At long last, you and your friends can finally settle the debate of who would win in a fight, Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th fame or the Predator, a ruthless extraterrestrial that's physically intimidating, skilled at hunting, and has access to advanced technology. But first you'll need to pick up the Predator DLC bundle for Mortal Kombat X. Included in the bundle are three extra skins, one each for Commando Johnny, Infrared Scorpion, and Carl Weathers (Dillon in Predator) as Jax. If you purchased the Kombat Pack season pass ($29.99), you can download the DLC today, otherwise you'll have to... Read more...
Solid State Drives continue to be one of the more sought after (and effective) upgrades for both desktop and mobile systems. But as drives have matured, and newer generations have been released, the bandwidth limitations of the legacy SATA interface have become increasingly more apparent. Even relatively affordable, mainstream solid state drives are bumping into the SATA bandwidth limit right alongside more expensive flagship drives, which makes it difficult to differentiate between them based on performance alone. The answer to eliminating the bandwidth limitations of the SATA interface is PCI... At this point, we've pretty much seen what the best and fastest SATA 6Gbps-based solid state drives can offer -- transfer rates just shy of 600Mb/s. So what's the solution for even faster performance? To tap into the PCIe bus, of course! Enter Kingston's blazing fast HyperX Predator, an M.2 form factor SSD featuring a PCIe Gen 2.0 x4 interface. This 'Marvell-ous' piece of hardware sports a Marvell 88SS9293 controller and is capable of hitting read and write speeds of up to 1,400MB/s and 1,000MB/s, respectively. Yeah, it's like that. These are best case scenarios, of course, and those metrics apply... Read more...
In November last year, we gave you a first look at LSI's forthcoming SandForce SF3700 PCI Express SSD Flash controller. It's an impressive silicon integration of both a native PCI Express x4 interface and SandForce's excellent SSD controller technologies, along with some refinements and advancements baked in.  At the time, LSI mentioned a few OEM partners they were aligning with for manufacturing of their various reference designs and form-factors and Kingston, as well as ADATA and AVANT were on that short list.  At CES 2014 last week, however, it was Kingston that stepped out with the... With a new like Predator, you should probably expect to be scared. And even for PC enthusiasts, the new Predator G5910 is mighty scary to look at. Acer's gaming beast has just been updated, and the component list is no joke. It's a towering tower, put together to offer superior gaming and multi-media performance for those with a) the space and b) the money. The tower itself is daunting, and a serious looked. It's also enormous, so it'll probably be reserved for those with 2-bedroom apartments (as opposed to those tight studios). But of course, if power's all that matters, we're sure even those... When you think of major gaming PCs, you generally think of Alienware or Falcon Northwest. But Acer has been making a new for themselves with their Predator line of gaming PCs. They also have impressive internals to go with 'em, and the company's new Aspire Predator AG5900-U3092 might be the slickest yet. It's equipped with a Core i7 CPU, up to 1.5TB of hard drive space, 8GB of DDR3 SDRAM, ATI Radeon HD 5850 graphics with 1GB of discrete video memory, ATI Eyefinity Technology and full support for Microsoft... Acer's Aspire "Predator" gaming PC line has only been around a couple of years now, but it has already gained a huge following in the sector and is widely viewed as a legitimate rival to Alienware and other high-end gaming PC companies. Now, the company is ready to unveil their newest beast, which boasts a chassis that is just as outrageous as the components within. The newest Predator would make the older ones proud, as the AG7750 still utilizes the wild orange case that could've easily arrived straight out of Transformers. Acer themselves remarks that this machine is built specifically for "avid... Read more...
Acer's notebook collection has been growing furiously over the past few months, and with demands shifting from desktops to more mobile form factors, that's really no surprise. But the desktop isn't dead yet, particularly in the gaming sector. For hardcore gamers, there's really no substitute for a desktop GPU, desktop CPU and a desktop hard drive, and Acer knows that. In order to satisfy the demand for more and more frame rates, the Aspire "Predator" AG7750 has been launched. According to Acer, it's also headed for "world domination." That may be a little extreme, but just take one look at the... Read more...
Not to be confused with the 1986 Ron Jeremy film, "Deeper, Harder, Faster," Acer has just introduced its new enthusiast gaming rig with the innuendo-laden slogan "Faster, Deeper, Harder, Further." The slogan might be silly, but the system is meant to be taken seriously. The case looks as though it could have stepped out of the Transformers movie and its color is what Acer calls "deep metallic copper." It looks orange to us.
