Remember the JooJoo? What started out as the CrunchPad eventually became Fusion Garage's JooJoo, a massive tablet PC that drawfs the iPad, plays Flash video but has yet to sell more than a handful of units worldwide. The lack of marketing has really hurt the product, and Apple coming out with something similar surely did not help their cause. But if you thought bad timing would make Fusion Garage's CEO bitter, you were wrong. He's just disgusted. According to a new report, Chandra Rathakrishna (creator of the JooJoo), recently had a few choice words about the iPad, and while sales would obviously... Read more...
You could chalk it up to bad timing, or you could argue that Apple just has more money to market their products with. Either way, the JooJoo Tablet from Fusion Garage hasn't seen the booming start we're sure it's creators had hoped for. Of course, it's one of the few (only?) tablets on the market that can fully handle Flash video, so at least that's one thing it'll have that the iPad never will, right? Oh, and now there's one other thing. On the same weekend in which the iPad 3G + Wi-Fi started shipping, along came word that a 3G version of the JooJoo is also in the works. The iPad utilizes AT&T's... Read more...
Fusion Garage hasn't had the easiest time getting their JooJoo tablet out of the door, but no one ever said it was easy being a startup. The company whose tablet used to be known as the CrunchPad is finally shipping out, but only to customers who pre-ordered one from the beginning. We heard that units would begin shipping last month, but that date obviously slipped; still, it's pretty impressive to think that the JooJoo is shipping out before the iPad. Pre-ordered units are leaving Asia now, and they should be distributed in America soon. If you have forgotten, the unit includes a 7" touch panel,... Read more...
The Apple iPad may have been the first major tablet announced with a near-term ship date in 2010, but good luck convincing the guys and girls that created the JooJoo that Steve Jobs had the idea first. Just a few months ago, Fusion Garage came forward with a tablet PC that was groundbreaking in terms of design and promised power. It was previously considered the CrunchPad, but when push came to shove, Fusion Garage was the only interested party still involved in the whole thing and willing to push forward with production. Chandrasekar Rathakrishnan is the most visible figure now involved in the... Read more...
Apple Tablet, schmablet. Who needs a tablet PC from Cupertino when The Joojoo is on the loose? In what is easily the wildest, strangest tech story of 2009, the Joojoo is the result of a long-standing project gone awry, bruised egos and lots of hard work in the engineering lab. Honestly, this is the stuff that WWE matches and daytime dramas are made of, and while it's not quite as crazy as this whole Tiger Woods debacle, the story behind the tablet (partially) pictured below is quite interesting. The entire story is somewhat lengthy, but in short, Michael Arrington's long-awaited CrunchPad is now... Read more...
