Twitter User Evleaks (Evan Blass) Calls It Quits, No More Leaked Photos Of Unreleased Products

Technology journalists and fans of electronic gadgets suffered a gut punch on Sunday, as it came to light that Evan Blass will no longer post leaked photos of unreleased products. If you're wondering, "Evan who?," then perhaps you better know him by his Twitter handle @evleaks. Blass built a reputation for himself through his evleaks handle by consistently getting his hands on press photos long before they were officially released.

You can hear the collective sighs from Samsung, LG, Microsoft, and every other company that's ever been on the receiving end of a leaked press photo.

"All good things must come to an end. Thank you for an amazing two years. [RETIREMENT]," Evan Bass, aka @evleaks, posted to Twitter on Sunday.

We've featured pictures leaked to the web by Blass on numerous occasions, just as most technology sites have done. Unfortunately, Blass hasn't been able to monetize his efforts to the point where it's worth continuing. Blass told The Next Web that he tried monthly sponsorships at first, then weekly, and then sponsored tweets. He even took donations, which he said felt like online panhandling. Blass also started a website, but with the leaks appearing on Twitter, there was little incentive for people to visit his online portal.

When asked if he might change his mind and leak product photos again sometime in the future, Blass said, "Almost certainly not. This is not a pack-your-bags-and-move-down-to-Florida retirement. I plan to start another career now."
