For as brilliant as Steve Jobs was at assessing the market place, he flat out missed the fact there exists a market for 7-inch tablets, so-called "tweener" devices, as he referred to them. Much of the appeal in the 7-inch category has to do with price, and if you're willing to shop recertified models, it gets even better.
We stumbled upon a recertified BlackBerry Playbook selling for $119.99 on Daily Steals, a site we have no affiliation with, but one this editor has purchased from on several occasions. That's a pretty remarkable deal for a tablet that once sold for $500, albeit it was way overpriced at full retail.
At $120, the 16GB Wi-Fi Playbook Daily Steals is selling is $80 less than what new models are going for on Research In Motion's online store and pretty much everywhere else. According to the product description, it comes with the retail box and a 90-day warranty.
With the upcoming release of Google's Nexus 7 and Amazon reportedly working on a second generation Kindle Fire device, competition in the 7-inch tablet category is about to boil over. Even so, if you don't mind buying into RIM's BlackBerry ecosystem and don't care about the financial troubles the company is facing, this is easily one of the better deals for a 7-inch tablet that's fun to use.
