Mozilla Unleashes Firefox 3.5

Mozilla announced a major update to its popular Firefox browser. Firefox 3.5 features performance improvements, privacy enhancements, support for new Web standards, and greater customization options.

According to Mozilla, Firefox 3.5 is the best performing browser it has ever released. This latest version is more than two times faster than Firefox 3 and ten times faster than Firefox 2 on complex websites. Some of this performance increase comes as a result of the powerful new TraceMonkey JavaScript engine, which delivers excellent performance with today’s complex Web applications.

Firefox 3.5 also offers a new Private Browsing mode, native support for open video and audio, and Location Aware Browsing. When using the Private Browsing mode, nothing on the Web is stored during your browsing session. One of the unique features of Firefox 3.5 is a Forget this Site feature that can remove every trace of that site from your browser. Thanks to native support for open video and audio, you won’t have to install plugins in order to enjoy video and audio content from within the browser. Finally, Location Aware Browsing lets you share your location information with a website so it can find nearby points of interest and return useful data that’s location specific.

Mozilla Firefox 3.5 is available for Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X operating systems as a free download from It is also available in more than 70 languages at:

It's seriously bugged is what it is. My FireFox load time went from a heartbeat or two to 50-60 seconds. First time, second time, didn't matter if it was pre-fetched or not. Numerous other people having the same issue as well judging from their forum. I've seen the same issue on both on my Vista x64 machine and my XP machine at work.

I downgraded both and am back to happy browsing. Hopefully FireFox 3.51 hits soon and resolves whatever the issue is.

Upgraded to 3.5 yesterday. Only major difference I see is that the FF Fox logo is more detailed :)

I noticed the more detailed icon too.

I really like the extra privacy features under options

And the feature where when a script dies it offers to kill the script I like, it doesn't freeze the browser and allows you to recover.
