McGraw-Hill Dishes Apple Tablet Details On CNBC

While many expect tomorrow's Apple event to result in CEO Steve Jobs unveiling an Apple table, we now have confirmation. Considering how much Apple values secrecy, you have to expect they are not pleased about this.

While being interviewed on CNBC today, addressing his company's latest earnings, which showed its first boost in earnings in two years, Terry McGraw, chairman and CEO of McGraw-Hill said:
"Yeah, Very exciting. Yes, they'll make their announcement tomorrow on this one. We have worked with Apple for quite a while. And the Tablet is going to be based on the iPhone operating system and so it will be transferable. So what you are going to be able to do now -- we have a consortium of e-books. And we have 95% of all our materials that are in e-book format on that one. So now with the tablet you're going to open up the higher education market, the professional market. The tablet is going to be just really terrific."
So there. We have confirmation on some of the details. iPhone OS on the tablet, which makes it transferable to the iPhone, as he said. Nice. Tomorrow can't come fast enough.

Lol, well McGraw-Hill won't be getting invited to the Apple event tomorrow. To be fair though, many other companies have already leaked bits of information here and there about the tablet.

Hmm that chicks a bit freaky. I mean I get the smell of textbooks part of it to a point. However; actively sniffing your books is kinda weird. Mcgraw hil is an exceptionally varied company as well. I bet they have something riding on this to, which would give them somewhat a right to disseminate as they saw fit, especially the man speaking. He is probably in the top 10% wealth wise. So he of course has something riding on this.

Well if they are a primary partner which it sounds like they are I am sure this was cleared. I know Apple treasures there secrecy, but you have to get the frenzy going early just slightly, and with super light details so it will build to fruition.

I can't wait till tomorrow to see this, Hey speaking of conventions are you guys going to Germany??? I can't think of a much better reason Germany in the Spring is nice (I grew up there dad was army air). Plus you get a convention that's bigger than CES.

Some details about the tablet have been leaked. There have been testers of the tablet who've had it for the last 10-14 days, and the general consensus seems to be that the device will be a game changer.

It will challenge e-readers, existing tablets and perhaps even netbooks. If the suspicions about the OLED are true as well, this will be an amazing device. However, as with most Apple products, it's worth the time to wait for the 3rd generation to come out and they've fixed the bugs, added missing features, and cut the price.

"And Cut The Price"

That's what I want to see. I'm interested in what the price will START at. We all know that Apple is completely capable of changing the game at will, but can they change their proclivity for yanking their customers guts out through their wallets?

From what I've read so far the price points will be $599, $699 and $799 depending on the storage and memory on the device. This isn't bad considering the multi-touch  OLED screen and dual cameras.

Of course, maybe the entire tablet thing is a ruse and they're really releasing an iPhone that sends out a frequency that destroys all Zunes within a 100 meter radius.
