LG Unveils Tegra 3-powered Optimus 4X HD Smartphone

The Mobile World Congress (MWC) exhibition kicks off next week, but some companies are rushing out announcements ahead of the conference. That includes LG, which just couldn't wait to unveil its first quad-core processor smartphone, the Optimus 4X HD. It's powered by NVIDIA's Tegra 3 '4-Plus-1' chip clocked at 1.5GHZ and boasts a 4.7-inch True HD IPS display with a 1280x720 resolution.

"LG introduced the world's first Dual-Core smartphone exactly one year ago and today we're announcing the next milestone," said Dr. Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of LG Mobile Communications Company. "But speed in itself isn't what makes LG Optimus 4X HD unique, it's the benefit we're bringing to customers with the HD multimedia experience in a mobile form factor."

Other specs include 1GB of LP DDR2 memory, 16GB eMMC storage, 8MP rear-facing camera with LED flash, 1.3MP front-facing camera, 2150mAh battery, and Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich).

NVIDIA's Tegra 3 chip is comprised of four main processing cores for strenuous computing chores (games, for example), plus a fifth "battery saver core" for less intensive applications (email, Web surfing). LG's Optimus 4X HD is one of many anticipated '4-Plus-1' smartphones to be announced at (or ahead of) MWC, as NVIDIA hinted when announcing the new nomenclature to describe the Tegra 3's architecture.

are these girls like.......twelve?

People are most able to accurately judge the age of others who are closest to their own age. Meaning the greater the disparity between the age of the judge and judged, the less accurate the results are apt to be.

While these girls are clearly young, they are certainly not twelve. The girl on the left appears to be around 23 and the girl on the right looks to be about 17--although, she is almost undoubtedly at least 18.

The phone specs are quite impressive. The battery size being the only thing I find disappointing. With a quad core processor and such a large screen, a 2150mAh battery doesn't seem adequate. They should have followed Motorola's lead with the Droid Razr Maxx and given this phone a battery on par with the rest of it.
