Galaxy S5 Mini 4.5-inch Version Of Samsung's Flagship Coming Mid July

There are generally two things you can expect from Samsung year after year. The first is a new flagship smartphone -- this year it was the Galaxy S5 (see our review). And the second is a mini version of whatever its flagship device happens to be. Well, it just so happens that Samsung's predictably forthcoming Galaxy S5 Mini has been leaked to the web.

According to SamMobile, the Galaxy S5 Mini won't be as big of a mid-range downgrade to the Galaxy S5 as the Galaxy S4 Mini was to the Galaxy S4. Assuming the rumored specs hold true, you can expect the smaller size handset to rock a 4.5-inch 720p display powered by an unannounced Samsung Exynos 3 Quad (Exynos 3470) System-on-Chip (SoC) clocked at 1.4GHz.

It will also sport 1.5GB of RAM, 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera, 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, LTE radio, 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, IR Blaster, NFC support, GPS, and Android 4.4 KitKat wrapped in the latest version of Samsung's custom TouchWiz UI.

While there's no word yet on price, sources say the Galaxy S5 Mini will show up globally around the middle of July.

crap crap crap crap CRAPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD is Apple really going to the the one to show the world how to make 2 different sizes of the same phone!?!?!? Pathetic. Yes there is a market for "Mini" versions of devices but we do not want the same model named used that has nothing in common with the real thing! It is like Samsung is selling me chinese knockoff of a Samsung device! Some of us don't need to go with a smaller phone to save money! Some of us would be happy paying the same price or $50 less for the same phone but smaller. Just name this what it really is "Samsung Shit5 Not-Really-Mini" because that is all it is.

"won't be as big of a midrange downgrade" really Paul? Really? Let's see they are making a 4.5" phone which is by no means mini or small but for some reason they chopped out 512mb-1.5gb of RAM ,they have managed to neuter an entire SoC core while applying major breaks to the 3 remaining cores, camera has been heavily downgraded, some odd reason .ac wireless turned into good ol' .n, and a screen resolution that is still adequate but way behind other midrange and budget phones. Thank goodness it still has Galaxy S in the name or I might not have known what phone it was trying to imitate.

Unless this type of phone is free on contract, just pay the $199 with contract people and get a flagship phone. If buying outright stick with the Nexus 5 or a 1+1 IF they ever ship.
