Dell Revises Latitude, Precision And OptiPlex Lines

It's a big day for product announcements, and that includes Dell. The company is introducing new Latitude, Precision and OptiPlex systems, all of which are aimed to tackle the newest challenges to business and to provide plenty of speed and agility to handle cloud computing. This launch marks Dell's largest-ever business computing portfolio update, and it's probably having to do with revitalized spending in the enterprise now that 2009 and 2010 are behind us.

There's also plans to include an expansion to Dell's existing tablet portfolio by revealing a 10", Windows 7-based commercial tablet later in the year. We never have been a huge fan of using a desktop OS on a tablet, as most Win7 slates have been too slow to truly enjoy, but maybe Dell's got the magic hardware formula to pull that one off. Speaking in the here and now, Dell today announced 24 new business computing solutions and form factors, including laptops, tablets, desktops and workstation computers in one of the largest-ever introductions in the company’s history and part of 39 new solutions launching in the next year.

New offerings include the Dell Latitude E5420, E5520, E6220, E6320, E6420, E6520, E6420 ATG laptops and XT3 convertible tablet. Additionally, Dell is introducing the Dell OptiPlex 990, 790 and 390 desktops as well as an OptiPlex Small Form Factor All-in-One Solution. Dell also announced the Dell Precision T1600 desktop workstation and Dell Precision M6600 and M4600 mobile workstations. The entire Latitude E-Family has been refreshed with the Latitude E5420, E5520, E6520, E6420, E6320, E6220, and E6420 ATG laptops and Latitude XT3 convertible tablet.

On the desktop side, the OptiPlex 990, 790 and 390 are equipped with Intel's vPro technology, small footprints and energy-efficient designs. If you need more power, the Precision workstation line is being totally revamped and outfitted with 2nd-gen Core / Xeon CPUs, graphics from AMD / NVIDIA and toolless chassis options. Need that power on the go? The Precision M6600 and M4600 mobile workstation offerings have just what you're after. Pricing and release details will trickle in shortly, but it's a lot to digest no matter how you slice it.
