Acer's Atom-Powered Veriton N260G Nettop Can Ride Your LCD

It's hard to say at this point if nettops will ever become as popular as netbooks, but if Acer has anything to say about it, they'll come close. The planet's third largest PC vendor has today introduced its new Veriton N260G-U2802CP, a product that sounds like it's straight out of a Transformers movie. The ultra-compact nettop is aimed specifically at the US professional market, but it should mount just fine on any LCD that's hungry for some attention.

The device is housed in a one-liter chassis and can be placed upright or laid flat, and it's retractable stand and VESA mounting abilities should help with either. Leila Axelle Robert, Acer Commercial Systems Business Manager, helped explain the obvious market it was aiming for:

"Combining a sleek form factor with power saving technology, the Veriton N260G is a convenient, low-maintenance device for accomplishing basic computing tasks in areas where there is little desk space. Whether the Veriton N260G is leveraged for classrooms, libraries or administrative purposes, this nettop delivers a streamlined solution for a small investment with a low total cost of ownership."

As for specifications, the N260G features an Atom CPU, Intel's GN40 Express chipset, 2GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive, Intel's GMA 4500M integrated graphics, memory card reader and a OneButton Recovery re-set pinhole to restore everything in case of power failure. Other ports include HDMI, USB 2.0 (x6), audio in, audio out, PS/2, Gigabit Ethernet and a Wi-Fi module.
