Joust Going To The Silver Screen?

No, it’s not April Fool’s day, and this news is just too strange to have been made up: The arcade classic Joust is heading to the silver screen.

For those of you who don’t recall Joust, it was more or less a game where warriors riding gigantic bird-like creatures (think the world’s first Chocobos) jousted on a series of platforms.  Like most arcade games of the early 1980s, the game wasn’t overly complex and lacked any deep story.

Lacking a strong story, one would wonder how such a game will spawn a movie.
"Joust is an arcade game that's as old as Pac-Man and has global awareness," said Cerenzie. "We took one element of the game and the brand itself and built a whole new world around it for the film."

Cerenzie calls the new script by Marc Gottlieb "Gladiator meets Mad Max." The film is set 25 years in the future and includes a Las Vegas suspended in mid-air.

"We've updated the game into a commercial, tent pole movie," said Cerenzie. "Marc has done an amazing job in creating a tantalizing and filmic world based on the original game."
Las Vegas floating in the air...interesting.  What do you think the plot might be?
