HP's 2709m 27" LCD Monitor Does 1080p While Looking Good

We've been more focused on Hewlett-Packard's latest assault on the notebook world than its LCD doings here lately, but this beauty was just too stunning to let slide under the radar. The ultra-sleek 2709m is a 27" LCD monitor that offers a true 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio, a 1920x1080 Full HD resolution, 5ms on/off response times, 400 nits of brightness and a 1000:1 contrast ratio.

It also supports 92% of the color gamut, arrives with integrated 2-watt stereo speakers and touts a VGA port, DVI-D socket and a pair of HDMI connectors, both of which have HDCP compatibility. And...that's about it. No built in card reader, no webcam and no bonus USB ports. In most respects, this LCD is about as plain as it gets, but the super stylish motif and the reasonable price tag have kept us interested.

Speaking of which, it's available to order right now from HP for $499.99.

Hmm I might give this some thought. Not a bad looking monitor with decent specs. I have been meaning to replace my 26" sony bravia with an actual monitor for some time now with the impresson that my gaming experience may be better. My have prices and technology have come along way. I spent 1500 on my 26" tv 4 years ago now I think it is. Now I can get a 27" monitor for 1/3 of that price with better specs.

Thats a very sleek looking  moniter that would look real good attached to my rig.It would do my rig some real justice but Im sving up some cash a little at a time then I  going to watch for NewEgg to have a good deal. The HP is nice though just needs 2 things the response time to go to 2ms and the price to go down.

Yeah, that's a nice "tweener" size for sure. I like it!
