AT&T Cuts BlackBerry Torch Price in Half

Good news if you're an AT&T subscriber planning on picking up a BlackBerry Torch for the holidays. The wireless carrier has gone and cut the price of Research In Motion's Torch device by 50 percent, presumably to make room for three new phones built around Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 Platform, according to reports.

"It's a promotion for the holiday season," AT&T spokeswoman Kate Tellier said. "It's usual to do this around the holidays."

The BlackBerry Torch now runs $100 with a 2-year service contract, down from its initial selling price of $200 when it launched in August. Features include a 3.2-inch HVGA+ touchscreen, user selectable font size, 512MB of onboard memory, 4GB eMMC + 4GB media card (expandable to 32GB), slide-out QWERTY keyboard, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, 3.5mm headset jack, 5MP camera, and a 1300 mAH battery good for up to 5.5 hours of talk time (GSM).

This is actually a very nice phone for not a lot of coin, relatively speaking.

BlackBerry phones are great devices. Voice encryption software is available for these phones as well. OCPI Blog wrote an article on it here "BlackBerry Voice Encryption; Not Just For President Anymore"
