5.1 Channel HDA audio, onboard video, Gigabit LAN, PCI Express, and ASUS Quality? You're looking at one decent motherboard, and one that won't break the bank. PCstats takes a look at Asus's A8N-VM CSM GeForce 6150, which is a quality board for the $106 price tag. "The Asus A8N-VM CSM motherboard looks like the perfect workstation/HTPC motherboard at first glance; onboard graphics with analog and DVI-D monitor outputs, and nVidia PureVideo High Definition MPEG-2/WMV9 Playback acceleration. The A8N-VM CSM supports all Socket 939 AMD Athlon64/FX/X2 processors on the market, and is built around two recent nVidia chipsets, the NVIDIA GeForce 6150... Read more...
MSI P4N Diamond @ Viperlair: "While the board did not sit on top of every benchmark, it has the potential to be one of the fastest gaming platforms for Intel. Benchmarks don't tell the whole story though, as the P4N Diamond proved to be a reliable board throughout testing and is stacked with enough features that it should be able to survive in most people's PC for a long while." Asus P5LD2-VM Motherboard Review @ Motherboards.org: "The ASUS P5LD2-VM board is an interesting contrast. At a retail price of $109, this board is excellent for the consumer looking for a low-priced, high performance board. Feature-wise it's an ok board, with the noticeable absence of a RAID controller... Read more...
Well the whole holiday season is finally coming to an end, and I'm looking forward to getting things back to normal. Who knows, maybe I'll get a few more tech calls from all the folks who got expensive computers and don't know how to use them :) Which brings me to a rather odd realization. Spyware and computer viruses, as annoying as they are, help me make money. I've always looked down on people who make money off of another persons misery... but that appears to be the situation I'm in... oh well ;) Albatron PX915G4 Pro @ Overclockers Online "Albatron decided to stick with the current Socket 478 processors on this model. Soyo's SY-7VMA - PM133 Socket 370 Motherboard The i815 should be nervous... By, Marco "BigWop" Chiappetta 12/7/00 Competition.  It seams like that is one of the first words to come to mind when discussing the current PC hardware scene.  When you think of video, the competition between 3dfx and nVidia always comes up. Think of processors and immediately an Intel versus AMD debate breaks out.  Well folks, the bickering is about to get worse! It seems like we may have another topic to discuss, motherboard chipsets.  For years, Intel was the dominant force in the chipset arena.  AMD and Intel also had a much better relationship; in fact AMD actually manufactured...
