Well folks, looks like I'm officially part of the HH Team now... Hello ;) The news is slow again this week(though not as slow as I am this morning), but I'll give you what there is, and then I'm off to watch the Patriots game. Here we go... Samsung CLP-550N Color Laser Printer @ XYZ Computing "The whopping onboard memory of 128MB is more than enough to handle most complicated documents such as large raster images, complex vector images from software such as Adobe Illustrator. Huge PDF files tend to be a big culprit with holding up printer spoolers, but they are not an issue with this beast. In fact, the printer's RAM helps it to buffer large amounts of documents at once, so that there is... Read more...
As the clock hits afternoon time, there isn't all that much news in today. I'll post what we have now, and I'll update this post if anything new comes along in the next few hours... depending on how the New England Patriots game is going :) Here we go... Al Tech Anydrive FM Transmitter @ MHW "On the left side is where you are able to connect your USB media. Note the distance from the side of the Anydrive and the USB plug is rather small, so if your USB media is not very slim, you may have difficulties inserting your media. On the right side is where you choose which FM station your Anydrive will transmit your music." Part 3 of the Virtual Memory Optimization Guide Rev. 4.0 @ Rojakpot... Read more...
Happy Sunday all!  It's turning out to be another gorgeous day here in the North East.  Makes a guy almost want to get out in it and get a life...  What is that round bright yellow thing in the sky anyway?  OK, so once you're done with this morning's shot of HH News goodness, you need to go do just that, cool?  On with it then... HIS Excalibur 9550 VIVO iFan Edition @ Bytesector "Recently, everyone's attention has been directed at the wave of reviews about the X800's and the 6800's. However, for people who can't afford to pay an arm and a leg but still want great multimedia use and acceptable performance that can handle today's high end games, such as Far Cry and... Read more...
Good morning all... I've gone in and made updates to two sections of our ATi Radeon X800 article, that I think you all will find somewhat interesting. First, we discovered that the particular NV Forceware driver revision we were using in our Wolfenstein Enemy Territory tests, had issues relative to its setting of NV's trilinear optimization function.  We've updated the benchmarks with a graph based on the 60.72 Forceware driver set, that shows the effects of this setting both on and off.  You can find this update here. Secondly, I was also totally off the mark, with respect to Centroid AA and its ability to clean up the aliasing issues we were seeing in the "AS-Glacier" map... Read more...
Welcome back friends :) My apologize about the late news update today.  My trip into Toronto lasted longer then anticipated.  Needless to say, it is getting late, so lets get down to business.... NVIDIA 6800 Ultra Previews/Reviews --> Our very own look: Link to HH's review PC Perspective Hard|OCP Tech Report 3D GPU Beyond 3D 3D Center XFX 5700 Ultra Dual DVI @ Viper Lair "While the XFX 5700 Ultra isn't the fastest card in the block, it is still a good card worthy of a recommendation for the performance and Dual DVI capability if nothing else. If you want a good, stable, fast video card that won't break the bank I would put the 5700 Ultra on your list of possible video cards... Read more...
Epox 4PDA2+ V2 Motherboard Review One Step Closer to Near-Perfection "Burned" in by Robert Maloney September 3, 2003           Today on HotHardware we have another Springdale-based motherboard to add to the mix. Intel has made some recent comments about "shutting down" the PAT enhancements being done by various OEMs on the i865PE.  However, today's entry, the Epox 4PDA2+ Version 2, has slipped under the wire, with their "Accelerated Memory Mode" (AMM) still a major part of the package. While we did not have a chance to sample the earlier version of this board, for the most part we have heard positive comments about... Read more...
NVIDIA GeForce 4 Ti 4200 Shoot-Out September Update: Best Data & MSI... By - Marco Chiappetta September 8, 2002 With all of the hype surrounding the Radeon 9700 Pro, NV30 and Parhelia recently, you'd think those were the only video cards people were buying, but you'd be wrong.  The fact of the matter is, these high-end products are consumed by only 3-5% of the total market.  The vast majority of consumers purchase video cards that have sub-$200 price tags, and there are a ton of viable products available that fall well within this price range.  How do you know which card is the right one for you though?  With multiple flavors of GeForce 3, GeForce 4 and Radeon based products,... ATI RADEON 9700 Relative Performance Update Performance Analysis With The GeForce4 Ti 4600 As The Yardstick By -Chris Angelini July 20th, 2002 On Wednesday, July 17th, we attended the launch event for ATI?s latest high-end graphics processor, the R300.  ATI has hosted similar events in the past, but without fail, NVIDIA would release a driver update within days and spoil the celebration.  This time was different though ? ATI representatives knew beforehand that R300 wasn?t going to be bested by any software enhancement. We covered the technology behind the RADEON 9700 (the first card based on the R300 VPU) in a previous piece, here.  So, rather than rehash the details that have... Read more...
The ATi Radeon 8500 Driver Update 11/14/01 One step closer but still not quite there yet By Dave Altavilla 11/14/01          Well then, it's update time.  As we promised in our 10/22/01 release review of the Radeon 8500 and 7500 series graphics cards, we're back with an update on ATi's progress in the driver department.  Today, ATi will be releasing their 7.63.01 revision driver for both the Radeon 8500 and 7500 series graphics cards.  This "unified driver" has been targeted by ATi to solve many of the issues that cropped up in the initial release of their new generation product. Specifically, in a conference call with ATi, we were... Read more...
