We are going to go start down the proverbial "rabbit hole' for notebooks in the coming weeks. And because of this, we need to lay a few things out before we go on. First and foremost, certain notebooks are designed with certain people in mind. Five or six years ago, not everyone was cut out to own a notebook, for a variety of reasons; which of course included pricing versus desktop systems. However, the drive down in notebook prices and the variety in notebooks have made it possible for most of us to own or plan to own a notebook. After all, notebooks have come a long way since they were only in the reach of the most professional of businessmen and running in the $4,000+ price range.... Read more...
Well folks, my package finally arrived and I couldn't be happier with my results. So far I'm running it at a stable 2.34GHz, which is close to the speed of a 3800 . Not bad for a $155 "budget" CPU. I hope all your winter overclocking sessions go as smoothly :) ATake Phantom Robot ChipsMod IV Chipset Cooler @ BigBruin "There are certainly other coolers, but none of them can be compared to the ChipsMod IV's unique looks. As for the performance, that's marginal without the fan, giving only a 2 degree C advantage over the stock MSI heat sink. Add the fan on there, and that improves to almost a 6 degree C difference!" Arctic Cooling NV Silencer 5 Video Card Cooler @ Systemcooling "Arctic Cooling manufactures a line of GPU coolers designed to combat not only the heat issues, but noise issues as well, and we know from experiencing the original VGA Silencer that they have succeeded in the past on both counts. Well it's 1AM right now, and my only mental functions consist of 'News' and 'Sleep', so I'll proceed in that order. Like most Athlon64 motherboards these days, the SL-K8TPro-939 is very nicely equipped with IEEE 1394, 7.1-channel audio, Gigabit Ethernet, a Promise PDC20579 SATA/IDE RAID controller and the always useful Port... NVIDIA's SLI - An Introduction! @ HEXUS.net "You'll have to wait for the rest of the articles, but I hope the initial look at things gives you some idea of the operating modes, what SLI can get you in terms of theoretical increases and also increases (or not) in real games. AFR is the dominant mode in the drivers at the time of writing, whether or not it offers the best performance or not, but overall it's a mode that works well. You really have to sit down in front of... Read more...

Good afternoon friends, welcome back to Hot Hardware :)  Yesterday I received a chance to see a free screening of Shrek 2 at a new DLP cinema that recently opened.  I must say, besides the movie being outrageously funny, the presentation using DLP was amazing.  The difference in picture quality is like comparing a DVD to a VHS; definitely worth the extra cash (if you have to pay).  Anyhow, let's get to the real reason you are here.... OCZ PC3500EB Platinum DDR Memory Review @ PC Stats "When Intel introduced the i865PE/i875P chipsets over a year ago, the Pentium 4 overclocking changed, but many enthusiasts seem to have forgotten that the rules stayed the same. Hello all... I'm sure a few of you have found a few miscellaneous issues with the site here and there.  This is all part of the deal unfortunately.  The move of our static html site to a database driven engine and importing all our content in the process, is an enormous undertaking, as I'm sure you can imagine.  We currently have a few problems with getting the articles categorized in all the right places, a few broken links etc, small nagging stuff like that.   So as the saying goes, "pardon our appearance" during our renovations, we hope to have everything spiffed up real soon.  Please feel free to send me a note, if there is something that is particularly...
