Good evening friends, how was your day?  Over the past while I have been trying to convert my eating habits.  I had been consuming to much "bad" food and had not been feeling the greatest because of that.  So, to go along with this health kick, I have decided to invest into a new Mountain Bike.  I have not full decided on what I want to get, but it looks like it is going to cost me around the same price as cheap laptop.  I just don't think I can trust a hundred dollar bike to support my six foot, 200 pound body while blazing down a trail ;)  If you have any good suggestions for a bike, drop me a note. Anyhow, getting to the task at hand, here is some news...... Read more...
Good evening friends, welcome back.  From the looks of my inbox, the news has been flowing at a good rate throughout the day.  There seems to be articles from all different aspects of the hardware scene tonight, so, everyone should be happy.  Go grab a chair; I am starting to serve...  AOpen AX4SPE Max II motherboard @ TrustedReviews "At first glance the AX4SPE Max II doesn't look all that impressive as it has a fairly standard board layout and there are no special connectors around the back. Dig a little bit deeper in the box though and you realise that AOpen has actually included a lot more features than you initially think."  Evercool NP-101 Notebook Pad... Read more...
Hey All!  As we alluded to earlier this afternoon, the PRs have been steadily flowing in today.  I'm here to give you another sampling and hardware news and to let you know that We've just posted a review of Asus' Radeon X800 Pro powered AX800 Pro/TD.  This card ships with a very comprehensive software and accessory bundle, which even includes a webcam, and it sports a uniquely colored PCB.  We evaluated its image quality, and compared its performance to 5 other video cards, including a 12-pipe GeForce 6800 and a 16-pipe GeForce 6800 GT.  We used the latest drivers available for all of the cards and did some overclocking as well.  Overall, we have over 300 different...   It has been a few weeks since ATi officially unveiled their Radeon X800 line of graphics cards based on the GPU formerly codenamed R420.  In our initial look at the Radeon X800 Pro and X800 XT Platinum Edition back in May, we found ATi's latest flagship GPUs to be very capable performers, besting their previous high-end product, the Radeon 9800 XT, in virtually every benchmark we ran.  Image quality was also on par with the 9800 XT, which is to say it was very good.  A few day prior to ATi's launch, products based on NVIDIA's NV4x had also debuted, and they too offered huge performance gains and improved image quality over the previous generation.  When our testing...   It has been barely over a week since we first took a look at AMD's new Socket 939 Athlon 64s, and motherboards equipped with the new socket have already started to arrive in the HotHardware Labs.  The first motherboard to land on our test bench is the fully-loaded Asus A8V Deluxe "Wireless Edition".  The A8V Deluxe is powered by VIA's excellent K8T800 Pro chipset, and sports a host of useful features like SATA RAID, Gigabit Ethernet, WiFi and 8-Channel audio with digital outputs.  It's also "Cool 'N Quiet" capable and has wide array of BIOS options geared towards novice and advanced overclockers alike.  Looking at the feature set, it seems like Asus... Good morning friends, how is everyone doing?  Things around the Canadian portion of the HH labs have been fairly mundane so far today.  Between applying a few Ghost Images and taking a few pictures for a review, I think the coffee machine has been doing the brunt of the work ;)  Nonetheless, let's take a step out of the HH world and see what else is happening around the net.... Corsair TwinX1024-3200XL Pro Series Memory @ ExtremeMHz "The XL series is a major step in the right direction in order to achieve a higher level of performance from DDR memory.  The lower latencies do really play a major role in overall system performance, and they show in our test results.  Don't... Good afternoon, and welcome back HotHardware fans! We've just posted a review of the Asus DRW-0804P 8X DVD+/-R Burner. While there are quite a few 8X DVD burners already on the market, there aren't many others that boast 8X burning capabilities on both +R and –R media. Asus' drive, however, is able to do just that. We've compared the DRW-0804P's features and performance to the popular Plextor 708A.  Click this link to check it out... While I'm here, I thought I'd serve up another shot of news.  It's been flowing in at a pretty good clip, so there's quite a bit to get to.  Here's the latest...  Neoseeker Samsung 192MP Review: "Previously, we reviewed the 173MW as... We've taken a look at quite a few dual format DVD burners over the last few months, and found some to be better than others for various reasons.  Most, if not all, of the drives we've reviewed shined in one area, but were lacking in another. Whether it be slower CD-R burning speeds, lack of options, or slow access times, we keep pressing on trying to find that one drive that will cover all the basics well.  Don't take this the wrong way, however, as we have generally been impressed by of what we've seen in the past, and the Plextor 708A still reigns supreme as our burner of choice (a drive, by the way, that we gave a 9.5 and an Editor's Choice award last December). Today, we're going... Read more...
Good evening friends, how are you?  Nothing terrible exciting happened in my world today.  I did however pick up a new CD which I ordered a while back.  I doubt most of you have heard of the record label before, but, it is a new release from NinjaTunes.  If you can imagine mixing Downtempo Jazz with Break Beats, you will get an idea of the music ;)  Nonetheless, let's get down to the real reason you came here... Albatron GeForce FX5700U3 GDDR3 Videocard Review @ PC Stats "The GeForceFX 5700 Ultra is already a pretty decent mainstream videocard, but that hasn't stopped nVIDIA from trying to sweeten the deal by including GDDR3 to the mix. GDDR3 (Graphics Double Data... Read more...
Good morning friends, I am glad to see you are back :)  Sorry about the late start this morning, I had to make a quick run to the local computer store for some supplies.  Last night my GF decided she wanted to rearrange the bedroom, and of course the Ethernet cable that was hooked up her computer fell about 3 inches to short.  But, isn't that the way it always is.  Twenty five feet of cable is too short, and fifty feet is overkill.  Since I am too lazy to start crimping my own RJ45's, maybe it is time to step into the world of wireless networking!?!? ;) Opus Technologies MT-200 Mid-Tower Titanium Plated Case @ Extreme Overclocking "The Opus Technologies MT-200 Titanium... The computer industry has been in a state of flux for the past few years.  As the market continues to grow and new technologies continue to evolve, manufacturers are becoming more creative with their products.  One of the most successful of these new offerings is the mini-PC, which has given the industry a nice shot in the arm.  While the mini-PC market has been become a staple for users who want to integrate custom multimedia systems into their home entertainment system, they are not the only choice.  As the PC evolves, and becomes more of a central household component, some users will demand more expandability than what the current mini-PC can offer.  This is resulting...
