OLED Technology: An Overview @ Anandtech: "OLEDs are the latest and most promising buzzwords in display technology. To give you an idea of their potential, imagine a cardboard-thin TV screen. Now imagine that you can roll up your TV, put it away or carry it wherever you go. Automatically, you start appreciating why millions, if not billions, of dollars are being poured into OLED research every year." BFGTech GeForce 7800 GT Review @ HardOCP: "NVIDIA isn't stopping here, as just as there was a "GT" GeForce 6 series of GPU, there is now going to be a "GT" GeForce 7 series of GPU as well. The GeForce 7800 GTX is at the top, and right below that NVIDIA is announcing a new GPU today,... Read more...
It's been only about seven weeks since the GeForce 7800 GTX was officially launched on June 22, but NVIDIA is already making news yet again today with the latest addition to their GeForce 7 Series of cards, the new GeForce 7800 GT. As its name implies, the GeForce 7800 GT is very similar to NVIDIA's current flagship GeForce 7800 GTX, but the GT is launching with a significantly lower MSRP for a couple of reasons. Both cards are based on the GPU formerly codenamed "G70", however, the GeForce 7800 GT has four less pixel pipelines and is missing one vertex unit when compared to the GTX version. The new GeForce 7800 GT's reference specifications also call for lower core and memory clock... Read more...
VisionTek XTASY Theater 550Pro @ [H]ard|OCP: "What really makes this chip unique is that it has a 12-bit video decoder. Most add-in-card solutions only offer a 10-bit video decode solution. The Theater 550 Pro itself can perform 60 billion operations per second meaning smooth video frame rates employing image quality features to clear up the image. Part of the 12-bit decoder is a high quality 2D comb filter that exceeds other filters by offering 5 lines instead of 3. The 2D comb filter is beneficial when your input source is of composite material such as a standard TV broadcast through the RCA (Yellow) connection. This higher quality filter on the Theater 550 Pro allows for more detail and... Read more...
NVIDIA most definitely has been on a roll as of late, with the introduction of a very successful 4th generation motherboard chipset with the nForce 4, and more recently with their GeForce 7 series launch and market introduction of the GeForce 7800GTX.  In these launch articles we often times work with platform "reference" hardware for testing direct from the core technology OEM and soon to follow, we cover retail level products from various board partners as they are released into the channel. With the NVIDIA GeForce 7800GTX launch however, the Silicon Valley based 3D Graphics giant seems amazingly strong and confident in their roll-out, as is evident in the wealth of information... Goodnight all :) EVGA e-GeForce 7800 GTX EGS "The e-GeForce 7800 GTX we'll be showcasing today is one of three 7800 based products EVGA currently has in their line-up, but we know a fourth model with a custom cooling solution should be available in the not-too-distant future as well. The e-GeForce 7800 GTX we have here, part number 256-P2-N528-AX, is essentially a duplicate of NVIDIA's reference design, with slightly different default core and memory clock speeds and a custom decal on the fan shroud." Almost immediately after we begun working with NVIDIA's reference GeForce 7800 GTX cards in the days and weeks leading up to the launch, we were contacted by a handful of NVIDIA's launch partners and informed that they'd have retail hardware ready to coincide with the official announcement of the GeForce 7800 GTX.  Leadtek, Gigabyte, BFG, MSI, Asus and EVGA were among the first to contact us with some specifics regarding their respective GeForce 7800 GTX cards.  The first one to send us a sample for review, however, was EVGA. The e-GeForce 7800 GTX we'll be showcasing today is one of three 7800 based products EVGA currently has in their line-up, but we know a fourth model with a custom... Read more...
Hey folks, are you enjoying the heat? The northeast portion of the HH labs is brutally hot today. Not quite as hot as my hardware(haha!), but it feels like it. Anyway, getting to the news. Adrian's Rojak Pot has updated its "Desktop Graphics Card Comparison Guide" to include 220 desktop cards. And in other news, The Sims 2 seems to be the latest scapegoat for US attorney Jack Thompson. That's right folks, The Sims 2 is no better than GTA: SA. Hide your children! Back in April of last year, NVIDIA released the GeForce 6800 Ultra and began to rebuild a reputation that had been tarnished by a couple of products that didn't quite live up to the expectations of many hard-core gamers. The GeForce 6800 Ultra, unlike the GeForce FX line of products that came before it, had more features than competing high-end products from ATI, and its performance was far superior than anything ATI had available at the initial time of launch. Soon after the release of the GeForce 6800 Ultra, though, ATI brought its Radeon X800 Series of cards to market and closed the performance gap, but NVIDIA's flagship still was considered more feature-rich, with full Pixel Shader 3.0 support. ...
