Good evening brothers and sisters.  In case you missed the linkage at the top of the page, we have just posted a review of nVidia's GeForce 6800.  Compared to the GeForce 6800 GT, GeForce FX 5950 Ultra, Radeon 9800 XT and Radeon X800 Pro, this review should give one a good idea of where to place their money in future upgrades. You want news?  I think we have a bit...  Apple iPod @ Viper Lair "What's even more slick is the iPod's integration with iTunes' Smart Playlists. Smart Playlists allow you to create your own playlists by specifying an unlimited number of criteria. Among them being genre, artist name, rating (songs can be given ratings between 0 and 5), album name,... Read more...
In the weeks leading up to the release of the NV40, the base architecture for the new GeForce 6 series of cards, NVIDIA spoke at length about their new architecture's "scalability".  At the high end, the flagship GeForce 6800 Ultra Extreme Edition is a 16-Pipeline machine clocked at 450MHz, that can pump out an impressive 7.2GPixels/s.  There are four banks of four pixel pipelines that are all enabled and running at a high clock speed on the 6800 Ultra EE.  Then comes the GeForce 6800 Ultra and 6800 GT, also with 16-Pipelines each but clocked at a more manageable 400MHz and 350MHz, respectively.  Having a single GPU as the base for a whole line of products like these,... Good evening friends, how was your day?  Over the past while I have been trying to convert my eating habits.  I had been consuming to much "bad" food and had not been feeling the greatest because of that.  So, to go along with this health kick, I have decided to invest into a new Mountain Bike.  I have not full decided on what I want to get, but it looks like it is going to cost me around the same price as cheap laptop.  I just don't think I can trust a hundred dollar bike to support my six foot, 200 pound body while blazing down a trail ;)  If you have any good suggestions for a bike, drop me a note. Anyhow, getting to the task at hand, here is some news...... Read more...
Good afternoon HotHardware fans!  The long, holiday weekend has ended (here in the U.S.) and it's time to get back to work!  We've got a few reviews on-tap for you, but for now it's time for some hardware news from around the web.  Here is what came in to the HH news feed over the last few hours...  BFGTech GeForce 6800 Ultra OC Review @ HardOCP: "When you throw in the lifetime warranty and 24/7 tech support you get with any BFG video card purchase the whole deal becomes very appealing. Also the warranty and support packages are very robustly supported right here in the good old US of A and have been found to take very good care of BFGTech customers."  Plextor... Read more...
Good morning folks!  What a weekend!  The weather here in the big apple was fantastic, the Fourth of July fireworks were great, the BBQ was perfect and on top of it all, I got engaged!  Woo Hoo!  Here's a bit of the story and some pictures if you're interested in knowing how to incorporate some "smooth-geekiness" into a proposal!  :)  When you're done, head back here to though, we've got a ton of news for you...  ATI Radeon X800 XT (PCIe) Review @ Beyond3D: "Comparing R423 to R420 we see that all the main characteristics of the two chips - process, complexity, configuration - are identical and this is indeed the case. The only difference between... Read more...
Good morning everyone. JeffB checking in to ring in the new weekend. Since I've started working from home, weekends have a lot less meaning than they used to, but I still look forward to them. If all goes well I will be snuggling up with a new piece of hardware this afternoon. Otherwise I think I will be getting out. Thanks to my latest addiction, Far Cry, I haven't gotten out much in the last couple of weeks. I really hate games that don't have in-game saves, but I will say that Far Cry is an exception. If you haven't checked it out, you should, it's one of the best I've ever played. Just be aware, this bad boy stresses even the most powerful systems to the brink of reboots. Little secret, turn... By - Marco Chiappetta February 5, 2003 PC enthusiasts are constantly upgrading their systems in an almost never-ending endeavor to improve their multimedia and gaming experiences.  All too often we find ourselves replacing our once top-of-the-line video cards and adding RAM or a faster processor, only to be unimpressed with the overall impact made by these upgrades.  That's not to say having a fast system isn't paramount to an enjoyable gaming experience though.  If your games, or movies for that matter, are chugging along at sub-par frame rates they're not going to be...
