Netgear Unleashes Orbi Voice WiFi Mesh Satellite Doubling As Alexa Smart Speaker, Nighthawk Pro Gaming XR700 Router

Netgear has announced a new product called the Orbi Voice Smart Speaker and WiFi Mesh Satellite with Built-in Amazon Alexa. That is a very long name to describe a product that can play music for you and answer questions thanks to Amazon Alexa integration. The device is also a mesh hotspot to extend your WiFi network. Orbi Voice can work with any Orbi WiFi system to expand your wireless network around your entire home covering up to 4,500 square feet. Wireless speeds up to 3Gbps are supported.

Harman Kardon premium sound is integrated for high-quality music to be played. Netgear says that this is a great way to get music into any room of your home and a smart speaker along with better wireless coverage all in one package rather than needing two devices. Orbi Voice supports voice-activated playback of Spotify, Amazon Music, Pandora, iHeartRadio, TuneIn, Deezer and others.

Orbi Voice can also play audiobooks from Audible, podcasts, or internet radio stations by telling Alexa what you want. Orbi Voice also has a pair of Gigabit Ethernet ports on the back. The Orbi Voice Smart Speaker and WiFi Mesh satellite will sell for $299.99 and a bundle with the Orbi Voice and Orbi Tri-Ban WiFi Router will launch later next month for $429.99.

Netgear has also announced a new router called the Nighthawk Pro Gaming XR700 WiFi router. This device is aimed directly at gamers and promises to be the fastest router in all the land for gaming. The XR700 runs DumaOS for more control over the network and to allow personalization of how you play. The router has AD7200 Quad Stream Wave2 WiFi tech inside for superior coverage. The router offers a gaming dashboard, Geo Filter to guarantee local game hosts, and a QoS control to eliminate lag when playing.

XR700 can be paired with a compatible SPF+ module like the Netgear AXM765 to allow gamers to use a 10G connection to a 10GBASE-T capable PC to get a tenth of the latency normally seen on a 1G connection. A 1.7GHz quad core processor under the hood to handle the operation of the device and it supports 60GHz 802.11ad WiFi. A pair of USB 3.0 ports allows secure cloud access to your local storage devices. ReadySHARE Vault allows you to back up the data to the cloud automatically. The XR700 router will launch next month globally for $499.99.
