ASUS ZenFone Max Rocks Dual Cameras And Massive 5000 mAh Battery
When it comes to battery capacity, ASUS is thinking big with its upcoming ZenFone Max. Really big. ASUS is not making a lot of noise about the ZenFone Max just yet, but a listing on the company's Russian website reveals that it will wield a massive 5,000 mAh battery pack. According to ASUS, that is enough juice to power up to 40 hours of talk time in 3G mode, or up to 26 hours of non-stop web surfing over a Wi-Fi network.
Want more battery stats? ASUS further claims you can squeeze our 22 hours of constant video playback before the 5,000 mAh runs dry. And in standby mode on a 4G LTE network, the ZenFone Max can last longer than a month—up to 46 days, to be precise. The bottom line here is that you should be able to actively use the ZenFone Max for a full day (and then some) without needing to scope out a power source.
We are not done talking about the battery. The battery pack is so capacious that ASUS promotes charging other handsets with the ZenFone Max. Just connect the ZenFone Max to another phone or gadget using a bi-directional USB-C cable and you can share the power.
Moving on, the ZenFone Max wields a 5.5-inch Full HD 1080p IPS display powered by either a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 or 425 processor. Those are fairly underwhelming specs for a device with "Max" in the model name (and not on par with the ZenFone 3 in terms of processing power), but beyond the display and processor, it is a fairly well-equipped handset—it has 3GB of RAM, 16GB or 32GB of onboard storage, and Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.
For taking photos, the ZenFone Max is outfitted with an 8-mexapixel on the front and two 13-megapixel cameras on the back. One of the rear cameras offers up a large aperture (f/2.0) for regular photography, while the other is a wide-lens camera (120 degrees) for taking landscape shots and group photos.
Overall this looks to be a decent mid-range handset, and best of all is the price—ASUS says it will start at 13,900 RUB, which works out to around $235 in U.S. currency. Unfortunately there is no mention of this handset making its way outside Russia, or specifically being offered the U.S.
