A Deep Dive Look At The Maingear Rush SuperStock X99
Boutique gaming PC system builders are a flourishing breed these days with new brands popping up on the scene regularly it seems. It's a testament to the fact that PC gaming, and the hardware the fuels it, is not only alive and well but kicking some major butt, especially with the advent of the eSports industry. Maingear has been building high-end rigs in boutique fashion since 2002 and in the process has racked up many awards over the years, including a few here at HotHardware. Today we're taking a look at a refresh of the Maingear RUSH SuperStock, a series of high-end PCs that we haven't looked at here since mid 2014; which seems like an eternity, so let's get to it.
The Maingear RUSH system we received is an absolutely one of a kind gaming PC that is built with a zero-compromise component configuration. The system is built on an InWin 909 chassis platform with removable tempered glass sides. We received a stock black matte finish model, though highly customized automotive grade paint jobs are always an option for many Maingear systems.

The RUSH SuperStock X99 starts at $1799 for a base model, but as we have it setup with the most top-end config, cooling and factory overclock money can buy, it'll set you back $9892. If you need to, go ahead and sell that kidney, but make no bones about it, this PC is about as tricked-out as it gets. Our system is based on an Intel Core i7 5960X octal core processor with a 3 - 3.5GHz base clock speed but overclocked to 4.5GHz and factory warrantied with comprehensive 3-year protection with lifetime support and lifetime labor covered as well. This Intel CPU is strapped into an ASUS Rampage V Extreme motherboard with NVMe support, 5 full length PCIe slots and support for up to 4-way SLI, though our system was configured with just three NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 Ti cards in 3-way SLI. And before you ask, yes, the GeForce GTX 1080 is eventually coming to the Maingear RUSH series as well.
And you read that right in the spec table above, this beast weighs in at 80-pounds, so you better not be slacking at the gym. Either that or you'll need to make this a two person lift effort freeing this bad boy from it's shipping container -- which, by the way, came to us on a pallet. You know you did your gaming PC up right when it arrives on a pallet.
