Refreshed 2019 Chevy Camaro Lineup Debuts With Turbo 1LE Trim And Controversial Styling
The Turbo 1LE goes into the range alongside the V6 1LE, SS 1LE, and ZL1 1LE cars meant to split time between the race track and the streets. Chevy will offer the Turbo 1LE with only a 6-speed manual transmission and a chassis package that is derived from the V6 1LE. Turbo 1LE buyers get FE3 suspension with larger stabilizer bars, specifically tuned dampers, stiffer rear cradle bushings, and cross-axis ball joints.
The Turbo 1LE rolls on summer only tires measuring P245/40R20 front and P275/35R20 rear. The turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine makes 275 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque, and the car comes with the Brembo brake package. The Camaro line also has some other new available tech with a standard rear camera monitor on 2SS and ZL1 models, the rear camera has a digital HD camera on some models. Camaros also add forward collision alert to the available active safety features. An enhanced Performance Data Recorded system is available as well. Inside Camaro models get a standard 7-inch touchscreen and an 8-inch screen is available with Infotainment 3 and one has a nav system.
All Camaro models also get revised front-end styling with distinct differences between each model. This revised styling has generated quite a bit of buzz online, much of it negative. Many have compared the SS' gaping maw to that of the all-new Chevy Silverado -- and that is not a compliment. An RS Appearance Package is offered on LT models and gets LED headlamps, LED signature light bar, and 20-inch wheels. Pricing and exact availability haven't yet been announced.
