Acer Aspire Nitro 5 Notebooks Updated With Intel Coffee Lake Core i5 And Core i7 CPUs

Acer has announced refreshed Aspire Nitro 5 notebook computers, and while there are no visual changes to speak of, there is plenty going on under the hood that makes this a worth upgrade. The Nitro 5 has been updated to the latest 8th generation Intel Core i5 processors, and versions of the notebook with Core i7 processor will be arriving soon. The machines are aimed at casual gamers and pro users that need power for more complex workloads.

"The new Nitro 5 provides exceptional performance at an accessible price point which exceeds the needs of most casual gamers, and also professional users that need to power through their tasks on the go."

Acer hasn't offered the full specs on the Core i7 and Core i7+ based Nitro 5 laptops at this time, but we do know what the Core i5 versions will pack inside. The Acer Aspire Nitro 5 AN515-53-52FA will sell for $749.99 at Best Buy. For the money, buyers get a Core i5-8300H processor, 15.6-inch FHD display, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 graphics, 8GB of RAM, and a 1TB hard drive.

Stepping up a rung on the ladder is the Aspire Nitro 5 AN515-53-55G9 selling for $849.99 at Best Buy. That machine has the same processor and screen but gets GeForce GTX 1050 Ti graphics, 8GB of RAM, and a 256GB SSD.

What we do know of the Core i7 and i7+ models is that they will pack GTX 1050 Ti graphics, up to 32GB of DDR4 RAM, and up to 512GB of NVMe PCIe solid-state storage. All versions get a backlit keyboard that has a gaming mode with only the WASD brightly lit. All machines have Dolby Audio Premium and Acer TrueHarmony tech for quality sound.

Wireless connectivity is handled by the onboard Intel Wireless-AC 9560 2x2 802.11ac chipset supporting gigabit-class performance. The machine has USB Type-C, HDMI 2.0, and integrated GbE. The machines will launch in May with the starting price at $749. Acer will also offer the Nitro 5 notebooks in the EMEA region starting in May from €799. Acer unveiled a new all-in-one computer yesterday called the Aspire S24 for folks needing a desktop.
