HP Goes BFGD With Omen X 65-inch 4K Display, Z 3D Camera, And Omen Game Stream Service

HP has peeled the covers off some more cool gear at CES 2018 and one of the coolest things in the mix is the Omen X 65 Big Format Gaming Display (BFGD). This is a gigantic 65-inch 4K UHD HDR-10 monitor for you to get your game on in the living room, or your man/woman cave.

The display has a 120Hz refresh rate, ultra-low latency, is designed for gaming with NVIDIA G-SYNC and features NVIDIA SHIELD integration. HP is mum on pricing right now, but the launch is set for fall 2018.

HP also has a new camera that it says is intended to "help reinvent creative workflows and spark spontaneous real-time sharing of documents and physical work product." The camera is called the Z 3D Camera and attaches to a computer display to allow the capture and digitization of 3D objects, 2D documents, and live video.

"The demand for 3D content has skyrocketed and 3D pros are constantly looking for new hardware and software innovations to increase their end-to-end productivity, from concepting to production," said Louis Kim, global head of Immersive Computing, Personal Systems, HP Inc. "HP Z 3D Camera helps speed up modeling, reinvent the creative palette and protect the artistic point of view as more people enter the profession and workflows become increasingly automated."

The camera is a zero-footprint device and attaches to the back of a monitor using a magnetic badge. It can scan objects with computer graphics-friendly resolutions and maintain that content as separate texture maps for use in VR/AR/MR. The camera is able to export models to PowerPoint 3D and Paint 3D, and makes easy 3D capture available to anyone with a Windows 10 PC. The HP Z 3D will be launched in the U.S. only in March for $599.

HP has also rolled out the OMEN Game Stream service that is meant to allow gamers to play top AAA games "anytime and anywhere" using the power of their OMEN PC on any Windows 10 device coupled with a high-speed internet connection. With their Windows 10 device, the gamer can connect to a Omen PC and play games that are far beyond the device specifications of the connecting device. Essentially, you could connect from your junky work laptop and play your favorite games from anywhere you have an internet connection.

HP wrote, "Connected cloud gaming experience: Offered within the OMEN Command Center, gamers can now take their OMEN gaming experience with them on-the-go with their OMEN gaming PC doing all the heavy lifting by acting as a cloud gaming server."

Game Stream will ship on OMEN computers starting this Spring.
