HP Unwraps ENVY x2 Tablet And Pavilion Wave Windows 10 PC With Amazon Alexa At Your Service

Hewlett-Packard's new Spectre x360 15 with Intel Core i7 8705G processor and Radeon RX Vega M graphics is no doubt the star of CES for the company, but it has a whole portfolio of new products on display. Among the newcomers include the ENVY x2 tablet and the chic Pavilion Wave desktop PC.

Kicking things off is the ENVY x2, which is an always-connected PC made possible by an optional integrated Intel XMM LTE modem. Powering the Windows 10-based tablet are 7th generation Intel Core Y-Series processors that can be equipped with up to 8GB of LPDDR3 memory and up to a 256GB PCIe SSD.

Given that this is a tablet, it is dominated by a 12.3-inch WUXGA+ display that is covered in Gorilla Glass 4. The tablet is constructed of CNC-machined aluminum, measures just 7.9mm thick and weighs 1.69 pounds. HP even allows you to more productive with an attachable backlit keyboard with 1.3mm key travel. And when you would just rather write down your thoughts, a Windows Ink pen is included (simultaneous pen and touch inputs are supported).

The ENVY x2 will be available in Spring 2018, and pricing will be announced closer to launch.

Although Windows 10 has built in support for Microsoft's Cortana digital assistant, HP has also infused its Pavilion Wave PC with Amazon Alexa. HP first launched the Pavilion Wave in September 2016, and this 2018 update caters to your smart home needs. The Pavilion Wave has access to the thousands of Alexa Skills and has the ability to control your smart devices (like light switches, thermostats, fans and appliance) while at the same time also tackling mundane tasks such as checking the weather or traffic conditions.

The Pavilion Wave has been updated with a custom LED that lets you know when Alexa is listening. And HP worked with engineers from both Intel and Amazon to incorporate Intel Smart Sound Technology. This allows for 360-degree reflective audio, which can capture the sound of your voice from any angle.

HP says that the newly updated Pavilion Wave will also ship in the Spring with a starting price of $549.99.
