Nokia 2 Entry-Level Android Smartphone Goes Up For Preorders At Just $99

High-end flagship smartphones get most of the press and stoke the most geek lust for shoppers. However, there is a substantial portion of smartphone shoppers out there who only want a device that can check email, take decent pics, and hit Facebook. You don't need a high-end $1,000 iPhone X for those tasks. All you really need is something like the Nokia 2 entry-level smartphone that has turned up on Amazon for pre-order.

This little device sells for $99 unlocked is ready to use on the AT&T and T-Mobile networks, and includes a warranty. The smartphone is offered in black with black side trim or black with copper side trim. You can also get it in black side trim with a white front and backing.

Nokia designed the phone to survive the bumps and bruises of life with a chassis machined from a single block of aluminum and a screen covered with Gorilla Glass to help prevent breaks. The 5-inch LTPS screen promises to be bright and energy-efficient with 1280 x 720 resolution. Nokia claims that the smartphone can go for two days per charge, obviously depending on what you are doing with it, thanks to a giant 4,100 mAh battery.

The main camera on the back is an 8MP shooter, offering automatic scene detection and auto focus. The front camera sports a 5MP sensor. The chipset inside the smartphone is a quad-core Snapdragon 212 and the smartphone runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box. Nokia promises monthly updates to keep the the device current.

Nokia crams an ambient light sensor, accelerometer, and e-compass inside the smartphone along with 8GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot for expansion. The smartphone is available in dual and single SIM versions, though the one on Amazon appears to be the single SIM flavor. At this price point, you can't expect lots of RAM and Nokia built the device with just 1GB of LPDDR3. 

The phone also has WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS/AGPS/GLONASS/Beidou, and an FM RDS tuner inside. Amazon is out of stock on all three-color variations right now with no indication of when it might be available. The device is also Prime eligible. We first heard about the Nokia 2 back in late October.
