AMD Radeon RX Vega 64 Delivers Forza 7 Benchmark Beatdown Against GeForce GTX 1080 Ti

Although our own testing have shown the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti to easily outpace the Radeon RX Vega 64 in most gaming benchmarks, there appears to be at least one DX12 title that seem to favor AMD's latest graphic flagship. That game is Forza Motorsport 7, which is set to go into wide release tomorrow, October 3rd.

In most gaming benchmarks, the Vega 64 has been shown to be a worthy adversary for the GeForce GTX 1080. But in Forza Motorsport 7, the Vega 64 is punching above its weight class, outperforming the GTX 1080 Ti by roughly 23 percent at Full HD resolution. With the resolution cranked to 2560x1440, the Vega 64 outgunned the GTX 1080 Ti by around 12 percent, putting up 115 fps versus 103 fps for its rival.

With the resolution bumped up to 4K levels, the GTX 1080 Ti struck back, delivering nearly 91 fps compared to 84 fps for the Vega 64. It was a small victory for the GTX 1080 Ti, however, we must point out that the Vega 64 still managed to bet out the GTX 1080 -- its true competition -- which put up 74 fps in the same benchmark at 4K resolution.

When looking at the benchmark data using 99th percentile analysis, the Vega 64 runs the tables scoring a victory at every resolution.

We should mention that all tests were conducted on an Intel Core i7 6850K processor that had been overclocked to 4.3GHz. 16GB of DDR4-3000 memory was used, with the Vega 64 and GTX 1080 Ti using Crimson ReLive 17.9.3 and GeForce 385.69 drivers respectively. All graphics options were maxed out during testing.

We have to keep in mind, however, that this is just one game, which we must say is a rather odd anomaly. Perhaps newer DX12 will also show favoritism for the Vega 64, which would definitely be an added bonus for AMD. We should mention that the Radeon RX Vega 64 has an MSRP of $499 for the air-cooled card and $699 for the water-cooled card, however, finding the card at that price is next to impossible. Currently, the Vega 64 (air-cooled) is retailing for $650 online. The GeForce GTX 1080 Ti, on the other hand, is priced at around $750.
