AMD Radeon RX Vega 64 Looks To Be About 25 - 35 Percent Faster Than R9 Fury X In BF1
Up until this point, AMD has given us just a small taste of what to expect when it comes to performance of Radeon RX Vega 64. AMD posted a few slides late last night that shows that when it comes to minimum and maximum framerates running at 3440x1440 and 3840x2160, the Radeon RX Vega 64 offers generally competitive performance with the GeForce GTX 1080.
However, we now have a little bit more insight into Radeon RX Vega 64 performance thanks to some benchmarks posted on AMD’s website. In this case, AMD is comparing the Radeon RX Vega 64 to Radeon R9 Fury X. Tests were performed on an Intel Core i7-7700K rig with 16GB DDR4 memory running Windows 10.
In Battlefield 1, The Radeon RX Vega 64 provides roughly a 25 percent performance advantage over the Radeon R9 Fury X at 1920x1080. At 2560x1440, the RX Vega 64 hold a 17 percent lead with regards to FPS. However, once you crank up the resolution to 3840x2160, the larger frame buffer (8GB versus 4GB) sees the RX Vega 64’s lead swell to 35 percent.

Of course, these are just benchmarks from one game, but AMD is promising that its Radeon RX Vega graphics cards will deliver blistering performance across a wide variety of DX12 and Vulkan games.
The Radeon RX Vega 64 will be available in both air- and water-cooled models. Both models come equipped with 64 compute units, but differ in clock speeds and TDP. The air-cooled card has base and boost clocks of 1247 MHz and 1546 MHz respectively and a board TDP of 295W. Peak single-precision performance comes in at 12.66 TFLOPS while peak half-precision performance is a lofty 25.3 TFLOPS.
Extreme enthusiasts, however, will want to keep their eyes on the water-cooled version, which has base and boost clocks of 1406 MHz and 1677MHz respectively. Peak single- and half-precision compute performance rises to 13.7 TFLOPS and 27.5 TFLOPS respectively with a TDP of 345W.
The air-cooled and water-cooled version of the Radeon RX Vega 64 will be pried at $499 and $699 respectively when the launch on August 14th.
