AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1900X Flexes 8 Cores And 16 Threads For Relative Bargain $549

Like the 1950X and 1920X, the Ryzen Threadripper 1900X features 64 PCIe lanes, quad-channel DDR4 support, support for the X399 chipset/TR4 socket, and comes from the factory unlocked (for greater overclocking potential). The 1900X, as you might expect, takes a step back with regards to core count. Whereas the 1950X and 1920X have 16 cores and 12 cores respectively, the 1900X features “only” 8 cores and 16 threads.

However, the decrease in cores means that the Ryzen Threadripper 1900X also has the highest operating frequencies in the family, coming in with 3.8GHz base and 4.0GHz boost clocks.

With the specs out of the way, that brings us to pricing. The Ryzen Threadripper 1950X is already a relative bargain at $999 (compared to its $1,699 Intel Core i9-7960X counterpart), while the 1920X undercuts the $1,199 Core i9-7920X by $400. AMD is positioning the $549 Ryzen Threadripper 1900X against the Core i7-7820X, undercutting it by $50.

AMD also confirmed that pre-orders for Ryzen Threadripper 1950X and 1920X will commence tomorrow (July 31^st) and they will begin shipping August 10^th. While we don’t yet have a pre-order date set in stone for the Ryzen Threadripper 1900X, it will be available beginning August 31^st, roughly one month from today.
