Forza 7 And Sea of Thieves Gorgeously Showcased In 4K On Xbox One X
In a sense, the era of 4K gaming is already here. All it takes is a powerful PC with a burly graphics card (or two) and a 4K monitor. While not as robust, 4K gaming has even spilled over into the console space—Sony with its PlayStation 4 Pro, and Microsoft with its forthcoming Xbox One X. The latter will be the more powerful of the two in terms of raw horsepower, and if you're wondering what all the fuss is about, just take a peek at some of 4K screenshots of Forza 7 and Sea of Thieves.
You'll need a 4K monitor or television to get the full effect. If you have one, you can view a bevy of screenshots—41 in all— from both games that a user posted to Reddit. Starting with the latter, screenshots of Sea of Thieves makes us want to quit our day job and go adventuring as a pirate. The water looks especially enticing in 4K, both while glistening in sunlight and during stormy weather. Have a look:

Sea of Thieves is launching exclusively to Xbox One/Xbox One X and Windows 10 PCs next year. It will feature 4K Ultra HD visuals and high dynamic range (HDR) support. On the game play side of things, it will be a multiplayer title in which "every sail on the horizon is a crew of real players."
Watching the trailer above, you sort of get the feel that Sea of Thieves will be a cross between Monkey Island and Sid Meier's Pirates!, with a bit of Pirate of the Caribbean flair thrown in for good measure. You'll be able to swim in the ocean and investigate abandoned ships for sunken treasure, and course go head-to-head against other pirate crews in the open sea.
If you're a landlubber who would rather burn rubber than sail alongside sharks, Forza Motorsport 7 is another game that is headed to the Xbox One X with 4K visuals. This one will launch a bit sooner—October 3, 2017.

The visuals are no less stunning, though instead of ocean waves and lush islands, Forza 7 delivers awesome rain effects as part of a dynamic weather system that can change during a race, and detailed instrument panels inside a range of vehicles—over 700 cars, along with more than 200 different configurations. These will be raced across 30 locations.
Forza 7 will be a showcase piece for the Xbox One X. Within two days of being supplied a prototype Xbox One X console, developer Turn 10 Studios was able to get its Forza demo running on the system in 4K at 60 frames per second. That is the expectation when the game arrives.
The Xbox One X arrives on November 7 for $499 (ouch!). It will feature eight custom AMD x86 CPU cores clocked at 2.3GHz with 4MB of L2 cache, 40 custom AMD Radeon GPU compute units operating at 1,172MHz, 12GB of GDDR5 memory over a 384-bit bus with a maximum memory bandwidth of 326GB/s, and 6 TFLOPS of GPU compute power.
