LG G6+ Flagship Boasts 6GB RAM, 128GB Storage And Qi Wireless Support
Now LG is fighting fire with fire, adding a new more potent model to the mix with enhanced hardware. The G6+ sits above the G6 in LG’s smartphone family and brings with it 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. That a nice upgrade from the G6, which features 4GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage respectively. LG has also bundled the G6+ with a pair of B&O PLAY earphones to leverage the power of the integrated 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC. The company even added Qi wireless charging for those that simply can’t be bothered with plugging in a USB-C cable.
On the software front, the G6+ and G6 will support LG’s Face Print technology, which will allow you to unlock your device using just your face. According to LG, Face Print only activates the camera when you lift up your smartphone, so you won’t have to worry about increased battery drain. In addition, facial unlocking can take place in less than one second.
While the G6+ has gained some nice features compared to its immediate predecessor, you’ll still find a 5.7-inch QHD display (with an unorthodox 18:9 aspect ratio) and the Snapdragon 821 processor. The external design of the smartphone also remains largely the same, which means that it still won’t turn heads like the near bezel-less Galaxy S8.
“LG’s G series has always been about offering innovation and technology that we believe will appeal to as many customers as possible,” said Juno Cho, president of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “By expanding the G6 lineup with differentiating features and colors, consumers will have even more options to consider when shopping for a new smartphone.”
The LG G6+ will be available Optical Astro Black, Optical Marine Blue and Optical Terra Gold when it launches. Unfortunately, LG has not provided any guidance on pricing or availability for the G6+, and we don’t know which version of Android will be shipping on the smartphone, although we’d anticipate Android 7.1.1 instead of Android 8.0.
