Samsung Launches Monstrous 49-inch QLED 144Hz Ultrawide FreeSync 2 Gaming Monitor

Are you ready for some serious widescreen display gaming action? Well, Samsung has you covered with the brand new CHG90, which is an ultrawide 49-inch monitor with 1800R curvature that employs QLED Quantum Dot technology.

While the CHG90 is no doubt the star of the show, it is joined by two smaller entries in the CHG70 series that feature display sizes of 31.5 inches and 27 inches (along with the same 1800R curvature). The CHG90 features an aspect ratio of 32:9 and a double full HD (DFHD) resolution of 3840x1080, while the two smaller models have an aspect ratio of 16:9 and a QHD resolution of 2560x1440.

Flexing their QLED muscle, all three monitors are capable of supporting 125 percent of the sRGB color space, 95 percent of the DCI-P3 color space and can output 1.07 billion colors. All have 178-degree viewing angles, a 1ms response time and a refresh rate of 144Hz. They are also among the very first gaming monitors to support AMD FreeSync 2 technology.

Samsung says that the monitors are a perfect match for action games, first-person shooters, and racing and flight simulation games. Samsung also sought out a strategic partner with game developer, including DICE, which will support the ultrawide CHG90 in the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront II. The newly announced Need For Speed Payback will also fully support the HDR display.

“Gamers want to feel completely immersed when they play, and our new monitors provide the most stunning visuals to deliver the ultimate gaming experience,” said Andrew Sivori, VP, Product Marketing at Samsung Electronics America. “These QLED gaming monitors represent the future of gaming for both casual and dedicated players alike, and we’re confident that our innovative design and state-of-the-art features will enhance the entire gaming arena.”

The CHG90 can be pre-ordered right from Amazon for $1,499. The 31.5-inch (Newegg exclusive) and 27-inch CHG70 displays are priced at $699 and $599 respectively.
