Acer Announces Predator Triton 700 And Helios 300 Kaby Lake Gaming Notebooks

The Predator Triton 700 is perhaps the star of the two, sporting a 0.74-inch thick frame that seems to take direct aim at the Razer Blade family of gaming notebooks. The Predator Triton 700 features an aluminum chassis and a 15.6-inch FHD IPS display with G-SYNC.

Powering the 5.7-pound machine are Intel’s seventh-generation Kaby Lake Core processors, which can be partnered with up to 32GB of 2400MHz DDR4 memory. Acer allows you to configure up to two NVMe PCIe SSDs in a RAID-0 configuration, and you’ll be able to choose from NVIDIA GeForce GTX 10-Series graphics cards to fuel your eSports mania.

Interestingly, Acer has pushed the RGB-backlit mechanical keyboard all the way to forward in the chassis, positioning the bottom row of keys near the laptop’s leading edge. The touchpad, which is covered in Gorilla Glass, moves into a position between the top row of keys and the bottom of the display. This glass panel also serves as a “window” into the innards of the machine, giving you a glimpse at the AeroBlade 3D fans and five heat pipes that make up the notebook’s cooling system.

On the connectivity front, you won’t be left wanting with two USB 3.0 ports, one USB 2.0 port, Thunderbolt 3, an HDMI 2.0 port, DisplayPort, and Killer DoubleShot Pro networking.

Acer also today announced the Helios 300 family, which is available in 15.6-inch or 17.3-inch form-factors — both of which feature FHD displays. Powering those displays is your choice of either a GeForce GTX 1050 Ti or GeForce GTX 1060 graphics cards, which are also overclockable. You can choose from either a Core i5-7300HQ or Core i7-7700HQ processor, both of which come standard with 16GB of RAM (32GB is optional). Storage subsystems aren’t as speedy as the Predator Triton 700, as you’ll have access to SATA interfaces for both the SSD and HDD.

When it comes to connectivity, expect to find USB 3.1 Type-C, a single USB 3.0, two USB 2.0 and HDMI 2.0 ports. You’ll also find GbE and 802.11ac networking options.

The Predator Triton 700 will be available in August with a starting price of $2,999. The 15.6-inch and 17.3-inch Predator Helios 300 will be available in July with starting prices of $1,299 and $1,399 respectively.
