HP Updates ZBook Mobile Workstations With 4K Displays, Kaby Lake Xeons And NVIDIA Quadro

If you’re a business user that needs high-end workstation-class components in a mobile form-factor, Hewlett-Packard has updated its ZBook family of laptops to deliver best-in-class performance. HP claims that its four new ZBook laptops will be able to empower everyone from filmmakers to artists to engineers.

The star of the show is the ZBook Studio, which comes with a 15.6-inch DreamColor 4K UHD display (supports 100 percent of the Adobe RGB gamut), measures just 18mm thick and weighs in at 4.4 pounds. HP also provides plenty of connectivity options for professionals (take note, Apple) with three USB 3.0 ports, two Thunderbolt 3 ports, an SDXC reader, GbE and HDMI.

When it comes to the firepower lurking under the hood, you have a wealth of Intel Kaby Lake processors and NVIDIA-based graphics solutions to choose from. There's a choice of Core i5, Core i7 or Xeon processors and you can opt for up to a Quadro M1200 workstation GPU with 4GB of memory. Up to 2TB of storage is supported in the system (along with optional dual HP Z Turbo Drives), which should be enough to handle all of your high-speed data needs.

There’s also the ZBook 17, which as its name implies, features a 17.3-inch display and is available in either FHD or 4K UHD resolutions. Like the ZBook Studio, it is available with seventh-generation Core or Xeon processors (with support for up to 64GB RAM), but also gives you the choice of either NVIDIA Quadro or AMD Radeon Pro graphics cards (each with up to 16GB of memory). Up to 4TB of storage is supported.

The ZBook 15 is the little brother to the ZBook 17 and largely mirrors that laptop in CPU, RAM and graphics configurations. However, the ZBook 15 is limited to 3TB of internal storage and is lighter by over a pound (5.7 pounds versus 6.9 pounds). Both machines feature two Thunderbolt 3 ports, three USB 3.0 ports, HDMI, GbE, VGA, and an SDXC reader.

Finally, there’s the ZBook 14u, which manages to cram Kaby Lake Core processors, up to 32GB of RAM, up to 2TB of storage and AMD FirePro graphics into a 14-inch (FHD) frame that weighs just 3.61 pounds.
