Although there was no official announcement from Microsoft at the time, the Windows 10 Creators Update was made available to the public yesterday via the Windows 10 Creators Update Download Assistant tool. The most current release, Build 15063, was the same build that was issued to Windows Insiders on the Fast and Slow rings last week.

Today, Microsoft announced that the Creators Update will be available globally on April 11th, confirming previous reports on that specific date. “The Creators Update is designed to spark and unleash creativity, bringing 3D and mixed reality to everyone and enabling every gamer to be a broadcaster,” said Yusuf Mehdi, Corporate Vice President for the Windows and Devices Group. “Beyond creativity, it brings new features to Microsoft Edge, additional security capabilities and privacy tools, and so much more.”

“OEMs and ODMs will help us bring the Windows 10 Creators Update to consumers and businesses around the world, and we are thrilled by our partners’ ongoing commitment to Windows,” added Microsoft’s Peter Han. “We’ll continue to showcase their work on innovative devices that light up Windows 10 experiences. We look forward to seeing even more new devices soon.”

The Windows 10 Creators Update brings a number of new features to the table, including some that are aimed specifically at gamers. Game Mode will prioritize CPU and GPU resources while gaming to [hopefully] improve performance. Windows processes that don’t require your undivided attention will be put on lockdown while you’re blasting away demons in games like Doom. Beam, on the other hand, allows Windows 10 PCs to stream games natively and interact with the community.

Paint 3D is the most significant update to Microsoft’s Paint app in years, and allows you to transform your 2D art into 3D creations. Windows 10 users will also be able to visit Remix3D.com to incorporate existing 3D art into their creations. Microsoft is also making a big investment into Mixed Reality with the Creators Update, has made speed improvements to the Edge browser, enhanced security across the board and has made improvement to privacy protections for users.
