Dell Refreshes XPS 13 Ultrabook With Intel Kaby Lake And Delightful Rose Gold Finish
However, the folks at Dell aren’t standing still when it comes to upgrading this ultrabook and the company has now equipped it Intel 7th Gen Kaby Lake Core Series processors to improve performance and further bolster battery life. Base systems come equipped with an Intel Core i3-7100U processor, while mid-range systems can be optioned with a Core i5-7200U. Those who crave even more power can opt for a Core i7-7500U humming along at up to 3.5GHz.
Starting weight remains at 2.7 pounds for non-touch display models, while selecting a touchscreen will increase weight slightly to 2.9 pounds. Customers can also choose from 1920x1080 or UltraSharp 3200x1800 resolution Infinity Edge displays. Powering those displays is Intel’s HD Graphics 620 IGP.
The XPS 13 can be configured with up to 16GB of 1866MHz LPDDR3 memory and up to a 1TB PCIe SSD. Base systems come with 4GB of RAM and a 128GB SATA drive, but it’d be a shame to hold back this sleek device with such budget components. Other features include a full-size, backlit chiclet keyboard, Killer 1535 AC wireless, Bluetooth 4.1, Miracast, two USB 3.0 ports, one Thunderbolt 3 port, and an SD card reader.
We should also mention that the XPS 13, according to Dell, has the best battery life of any 13-inch notebook on the market thanks to its internal 60 Wh battery. And its power-sipping prowess has only gotten better with the Kaby Lake refresh, as the XPS 13 can now last up to 22 hours on a charge (FHD model).
Also take note that the refresh model is also now available in Rose Gold, which has become a rather popular color for electronic devices in recent years. The new XPS 13 will be available starting October 4th, with the Rose Gold Edition ringing in at $1,149.
Earlier this month, Dell refreshed two members of the Alienware gaming notebook family. More specifically, the Alienware 15 and 17 were updated with fresher styling and thinner chassis designs. Both machines still soldier on with Skylake power instead of Kaby Lake, but do offer up current gen NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 and GTX 1080 graphics options.
