Hands-On Samsung Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge And Gear 360 VR With Submersion Test
Samsung announced its latest flagship Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge smartphones, along with a slick 360-degree portable camera dubbed the Gear 360, yesterday at its Unpacked event at Mobile World Congress. To quickly reiterate, Samsung’s latest flagships are both packing a Qualcomm 820 SoC (up to 2.1GHz) with Adreno 530 graphics, 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Both phones also have 12MP rear and 5MP front facing cameras (f/1.7), built-in fast wireless charging, microSD expansion slots, and Super AMOLED displays with QHD (2560x1440) resolutions. Where the two phones differ is in regard to their screens and batteries. The Galaxy S7 has a 5.1” screen and a 3000mAh battery, whereas the Galaxy S7 Edge has a 5.5” screen and a 3600mAh battery. In addition to the return of the microSD card slot, water resistance is back with the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. The Galaxy S5 was dust and water resistant as well, but the standard Galaxy S6 was not.
We had the opportunity to get some hands on-time with the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge earlier today and have some video and images of the devices to share with you here, complete with a dunk test and some live-action with the Gear 360.

If you’re familiar with the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, these new devices will look very familiar. They have all of the same design language, and feel similar in the hand. Though we didn’t get to spend an extended period of time with the devices, initial impression on build quality are excellent. Performance also seems top-notch, and the cameras seem to capture high-quality images and video—we’ll know for sure when we get to do an in-depth review.
