$132,200 Tesla Model X Signature Series SUV Now Available For Pre-Order

If you’ve been itching to get your hands on Tesla Motors’ follow-up to the award-winning Model S electric sedan, now is your chance. Tesla has opened up pre-orders for its Model X SUV, and pricing for this limited run of models is positively through the roof.

The Model X Signature Series comes with the newly announced 90 kWh battery pack, which gives the seven-seat vehicle an EPA estimated driving of 240 miles per charge. And given that this is a top-spec model, you’ll find a 259hp electric motor up front which teams with a rear-mounted 503hp rear motor. Together, the electric motors are powerful enough to propel this hulking SUV to 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds and hit a top speed of 155 mph.

All of that performance is going to cost you, however. The Model X Signature Series is priced from $132,200 including destination fee. However, you can go bonkers from there by adding the $10,000 “Ludicrous Speed” option, which is also available on the Model S. Ludicrous Mode drops the 0-60 times down to a blistering 3.2 seconds. Additional options include a $1,000 “Subzero Weather Package” and a $750 tow package.

You can offset the cost of the options packages though with a $7,500 federal tax credit, which still applies despite the fact that someone that can afford a $100,000 vehicle probably doesn’t need any additional tax assistance or incentive to purchase a green vehicle.

But you have to remember, this is the range-topping model — lower Model X trim levels will be much less expensive. When the full range is revealed, you can expect pricing to be slightly more expensive than a comparable Model S.

Tesla says that if you reserve your Model X today, you should receive it in early 2016.
