I've got a Nexus 6 from Motorola and Google. Key features: price (it was expensive at launch, but sales were many, mine was $260 new off contract), front-facing speakers and AMOLED. And Android. I like knowing anything I think "I wish I could do that", I always can with a short visit to xda-devs or a perusal of Tasker's functions. As the Nexus line began for developers, they tend to be especially easy to tweak. It's a little too big, but its other redeeming qualities make up for that. Which smartphone do you have and what made it the one for you?

The 6P is an interesting option. The AMOLED tech is supposed to be more advanced than what went into my 6, but also the 128GB option is enticing. If you're going to have a phone without expandable storage, might as well load up. How much storage did you get?

Wow, that sucks. Anyhow, with smartphones, I wonder if there will be any more modular phones like LG's :P

Are you familiar with Project Ara? It has seen some delays, but it's a really ambitious fully modular design Motorola began and after Google sold Moto, they kept the division that developed Ara. Though news is slow after the Puerto Rico pilot got cancelled (probably because of PR's economic woes making it a less ideal test bed), AFAIK, it's still in the works. And they pulled together some really big name partners. It wasn't like a crowdfunded pipedream.

I have 64GB, and it's pretty spacious, especially since my last phone had 8GB storage and no microsd! But since my Nexus 6's speakers are better than my laptop's, I end up using it for video a lot, including tv recordings from my htpc. I don't keep many on there all the time, but sometimes I put a bunch on and it is possible to fill it up that way. I wish my laptop had forward facing speakers. It's just infuriating that that isn't a universal feature even now. Why would you point speakers at the ground or a wall and not at the listener?

Isn't the LG G5 doing the same modular thing?

That's what my post was in response to, other modular phones you asked about. I might should have hit the quote button. But LG's modularity is far more limited if your question is how are they different. Ara's original design had more range. You could replace everything with a module, including the screen. You could have twice as much battery as someone else's configuration (sacrificing other components). You could choose not to have a camera to make room for external storage. The sky was the limit.
