Brandon received his first PC, an IBM Aptiva 310, in 1994 and hasn’t looked back since. He cut his teeth on computer building/repair working at a mom and pop computer shop as a plucky teen in the mid 90s and went on to join AnandTech as the Senior News Editor in 1999. Brandon would later help to form DailyTech where he served as Editor-in-Chief from 2008 until 2014. Brandon is a tech geek at heart, and family members always know where to turn when they need free tech support. When he isn’t writing about the tech hardware or studying up on the latest in mobile gadgets, you’ll find him browsing forums that cater to his long-running passion: automobiles.

At some point, smartphone manufacturers are just going to have to call it a day and stop with this ambition to go thinner and thinner (at the expense of battery life). In late October, Oppo stunned the tech community with its R5 that boasts a 5.2” 1080p display while measuring just 4.85mm thin. Now it’s Chinese OEM... Read more...

Well, that didn’t take long. In early November, Microsoft rolled out its new “Work & Play Bundle” that combines a year’s worth of Office 365 Home, Xbox Live Gold, Xbox Music Pass, and Skype Unlimited World + WiFi. The Microsoft-branded Lumia 535 is the most recent budget smartphone entry from Redmond, Washington (it seems as though all we’ve been getting lately from Microsoft are budget- and mid-range models), but it’s an older member of the Windows Phone family that’s getting a fresh price cut today. The Lumia 520 was available for a respectable Read more...

Baer’s work didn’t stop there, however. He would Read more...
