Before Apple's iPad first burst onto the tablet scene in 2010, a leaked Microsoft concept generated a lot of buzz in the enthusiast community. Called Courier (pictured above), the tablet featured dual displays attached to a folding hinge, along with touch and pen input. However, Microsoft never went forward with the proposal. E-readers are nothing new. At this point, they're actually kind of old. And for those who have following their progress, you may remember that Microsoft was reportedly working up a "Courier" project that was eventually scraped altogether. But it seems that Microsoft may not have forgotten completely about their e-reader aspirations. While the device seen here is certainly no Courier, this e-reader prototype is definitely a looker. What a wild week in technology it has been. Sony has been sued, HTC now has to pay Microsoft each time they sell an Android phone, Adobe and Apple are publicly humiliating one another, Palm was purchased by HP, and now Microsoft has decided against following the herd and producing a tablet of their own.
