There's no question that gamers and publisher Activision were disappointed with the 2016 launch of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. Researchers from the Université de Montréal have published a study that found certain types of video games resulted in the loss of grey matter in the brain, while other types of video games resulted in an increase. Specifically, the study claims that gamers who frequently play first person shooter type video games like Call of Duty, Killzone, and Borderlands 2 lose grey matter mass in their brain. Researchers say that in FPS gamers, the grey matter mass loss occurs in the hippocampus, an area of the brain that the scientists say is critical to healthy cognition. On the other hand, the study... It’s official: the next iteration of Activision’s Call of Duty series is nigh, and far from being just another entry into the Modern Warfare series, it’s an all-new game with new characters, new setting, and even a new engine. Activision is calling it a “leap forward” for the franchise. For as pleased as plenty of college students were that “Call of Duty: Black Ops II” was released this week, they’ll possibly be even more enthused at the possibility of participating in a college CoD tournament. NVIDIA announced that it will host four-person, last-team-standing matches and pit several colleges with long-running rivalries against each other.
