HIS Launches Factory Overclocked 7950 IceQ Turbo 3GB Graphics Card

The Holy Trinity of computing involves parts that manage to run cooler, quieter, and faster than reference designs call for, and that's exactly what HIS promises with its new 7950 IceQ Turbo 3GB graphics card. The 7950 IceQ Turbo is a factory overclocked AMD Radeon HD 7950 videocard with a custom cooler that allows it to run up to 10C cooler than reference cards and 10dB quieter, operating below 28dB when watching movies, surfing Facebook, or crunching numbers in Excel.

Let's start with the overclock. HIS didn't go crazy here, but the company did goose the GPU to 900MHz, a 100MHz improvement over the stock 800MHz clockspeed. The 3GB of GDDR5 memory is untouched and still races along at 5000MHz.

HIS says you can take things higher if you want to. The card features "only the finest materials" assembled with "the most advanced techniques," and of course the cooler is supposed to be tops. Using HIS's iTurbo software, you can get a quick boost in performance with a single click (HIS says iTurbo works with all graphics cards, not just its own).

Other features include a dual-BIOS design (hooray for safety nets), Dynamic Phase Control PWM IC to save power, a 2-ounce copper layer on the PCB, 57mm single-blower fan, 2x6mm and 2x8mm heatpipes, and a slightly funky looking design.
