Apple Reportedly Plans iPad 3 Event for Early March

Apple iPad launch events are arguably less exciting these days now that Android has picked up its game with Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) and the emergence of low-cost tablets like the Kindle Fire and Nook Tablet, but if you've been itching for a new tablet to come out of Cupertino, it looks like you'll get some relief next month.

John Packzkowski over at AllThingsD says Apple will launch the iPad 3 in March and not this month as some people thought. His sources tell him the launch will take place in the first week of March, with an event most likely to take place in San Francisco at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, which is where Apple likes to make big announcements.

His sources also indicate the iPad 3 will, for the most part, be what we've come to expect from all the rumors and speculation that's hit the Web. It will sport a similar form factor as the iPad 2, but with a faster processor, improved graphics, and a 2048x1536 Retina Display, which could end up being Apple's ballyhooed marketing bullet (like Siri is for the iPhone 4S).

There has also been chatter about the iPad 3 incorporating a 4G LTE radio, more RAM, and better quality cameras, all of which are things the iPad could truly benefit from (which means Apple will probably leave one of them out).
