Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge owners waiting patiently for an Android 7.0 Nougat update for their handset may feel the way Bill Murray did in the movie Groundhog Day in which each new day was the same as the last. Sony announced back at the end of August that it was working on Android 7.0 Nougat software updates for several of its Xperia handsets and it has been a waiting game ever since. Don't get too attached to Google's codenames for its next flagship phones, Marlin and Sailfish. Cool as they are (especially if you're into deep sea fishing), rumor has it Google will market and sell the devices as Pixel and Pixel XL. It looks as though the leak from Canadian carrier Telus was accurate: August 22nd is indeed the official launch day for Android 7.0 Nougat. Google confirmed the news this afternoon, and announced that supported Nexus devices will begin receiving the update in waves over the coming weeks. LG is no stranger to making Android smartphones, and has worked very closely with Google in the past on Nexus devices (Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 5X). That close collaboration with Google will extend to LG’s successor to the V10: the V20. According to an official press release on LG’s Korean-language website, the V20 will be the very first smartphone to ship with Android 7.0 Nougat when it launches in September. Google released the final developer preview of Nougat earlier this month and is confident enough in its stability and completeness to move forward with an official launch in August.
