Super Talent is now shipping its new line of Mac compatible DDR3 memory modules. These modules have been tested at Apple's Compatibility Lab headquarters. These new modules are eco-friendly and reduce the voltage requirements 10% from the traditional 1.5 voltage to the new 1.35 volt standard. The new 1.35 volt modules are available for select models of the 15-inch MacBook Pro, 13-inch MacBook Pro, and 21.5- and 27-inch iMac machines. The chart below shows additional information about each of the new modules. Super Talent Tests New Green Line of DDR3 Apple Memory A faster, greener memory module... Read more...
We don't tend to think of solid state drives as being overly susceptible to the dangers of heat, but then again, we're not running a toasty server farm or bombarding our SSDs with constant simulation applications. For those who do have a server farm to run, or are otherwise worried about longevity, Super Talent just introduced its SuperNova SSD Series with thermal conductive silicon padding. The padding prevents overheating and requires less cooling, Super Talent claims. Other safety net features include S.M.A.R.T. monitoring, built-in encryption, and proprietary RAISE technology that Super Talent... Read more...
Super Talent this week unveiled a new extreme solid state drive (SSD) solution that skips SATA III in favor of PCI Express. It's the new RAIDDrive upStream, a new type of SSD designed to take advantage of the greater bandwidth PCIe affords with up to 1GB/s of read performance and up to 900MB/s of write performance, compared to 550MB/s for SATA III solutions. "The upStream is a perfect addition to any workstation running a variety of disk intensive applications," Super Talent says. "It’s perfect for Animation, Simulation, CAD and Sorting & Searching large databases. When time is money,... Read more...
Is there ever a time when a new SSD isn't exciting? Doubtful. As the world of solid state flash continues to whirl, Super Talent is introducing yet another option into the mix, the ultra-portable Storage POD Mini. It's a portable USB 3.0 SSD wrapped in a blue anodized, all-aluminum enclosure enables this drive to be both lightweight and rugged yet measure a mere 110 x 68 x 10 mm. Its top speed reaches over 260MB/s, but where this design really shines is in the real world performance. Its on-board processor is able to dramatically accelerate real world performance by compressing your data, in real-time,... Read more...
Super Talent and SSDs have gone together like peas in a pod for years on end, but there's one section of the market that the company has been avoiding until now: pro/enthusiast. At least, that's what the company purports, and they've entered that very market with the introduction of their fastest 2.5" SSD to date, the SATA3 TeraNova. It boasts SATA3 support, a SandForce 2200 processor (with "optimized firmware"), and offers over 500MB/sec for both reads and writes. The TeraNova also includes new features that enhance reliability as well. In the event of a sudden power loss, the TeraNova reacts,... Read more...
In order to provide ample memory to support 16 core chips, Super Talent announced new DDR3-1333MHz RDIMM modules for servers. These are quad-channel, quad-rank modules that come in 8GB capacities. Super Talent has tested the new modules on AMD Interlagos motherboards. Super Talent Introduces Quad-Channel, Quad Rank DDR3 RDIMMs Enabling 128GB DRAM Capacity on today’s modern Servers San Jose, California – Dec 6, 2011 – Super Talent Technology, a leading manufacturer of NAND flash storage solutions, today announces a new line of 1333 MHz, quad rank registered DDR3 RDIMM modules for... Super Talent announced a new line of high speed, quad-channel Registered DDR3 RDIMM modules for servers running at 1600MHz. As server admins know, there is often a problem that arises if all memory slots are populated on a motherboard. If all of the slots are populated, the memory must throttle its performance in order to compensate for the limitations of the CPU. These new Super Talent modules overcome this issue and support full speed at full loading, so you can have 16 slots of memory running at 1600MHz. Super Talent's new modules are available in 2GB and 4GB capacities. Quad-Channel DDR3 RDIMMs... Read more...
A new USB flash drive is available from Super Talent, and it offers four channels of flash for better speeds and greater capacity. It also features native USB 3.0 performance and is available in capacities up to 64GB. Oddly, there is little additional information available on the Super Talent website about the USB 3.0 Express ST4 even though the flash drive is already widely available for purchase. System memory isn't the cause of your high energy bill at home -- check your fully loaded entertainment center instead -- but when it comes to servers and server farms, low power memory can have a real impact on a company's bottom line. It's the reason why memory makers develop so-called "green" memory, such as Super Talent's new Green-Line VLP These are low-profile, eco-friendly DDR3 memory modules featuring lower operating voltages. There are five new dual-channel kits in all, each one 4GB in capacity, rated at 1600MHz, and standing just 0.72 inches short, equal to a 39 percent reduction compared... Read more...
Looking for a new hard drive enclosure, perhaps one that understands USB 3.0? You're in lucky. Super Talent has just announced a new USB 3.0 Storage POD that will bring your existing HDD into the world of SuperSpeed with this DIY kit. You simply pop any 2.5" HDD or SSD into the kit, and then take advantage of the USB 3.0 connector if you have a computer with a USB 3.0 socket. Pretty simple, no? This case is particularly useful for those who are upgrading the drive in their notebook, and thus, are left with a 2.5" drive that now has no home. Pop that guy in here, and you've just created a fast,... Read more...
Super Talent is working to make USB 3.0 flash drives more affordable and accessible to the average user with the introduction of its new USB 3.0 Express ST2. This dual channel USB 3.0 flash drive offers speeds that are similar to the company's USB 3.0 Express DUO (67MB/s read, 24MB/s write). Like many other USB 3.0 products on the market today, the USB 3.0 Express ST2 is backward compatible with USB 2.0. The USB 3.0 Express ST2 is available in capacities of 8GB, 16GB and 32GB. The 8GB model costs about $20. Super Talent Introduces New USB 3.0 Flash Drive Native USB 3.0 Controllers make USB 3.0... Read more...
Laptops like the MacBook Air and Samsung Series 9 are redefining what it means to be a thin and light laptop, sort of in the same way Hollywood redefined what it meant to be skinny (only not as gross -- seriously, does anyone find Nicole Richie attractive anymore?). Combined with the emerging tablet market, there is a strong need for good solid state drives. Super Talent has noticed and aims to deliver with the release of its new MasterDrive KX3, a 1.8-inch solid state drive aimed squarely at thin notebooks and tablets. "As laptops get thinner and lighter, the demand for smaller, thinner... Read more...
Super Talent announced the new USB 3.0 Express DUO 2-CH flash drive. This drive features a cap-less industrial design as well as a black piano finish housing that twists to hide and reveal the USB 3.0 port. When connected to a USB 3.0 port, Super Talent says the 2-channel design of the Express Duo 2-CH can hit speeds over 67MB/s. The drive comes pre-installed with Microsoft Security Essentials. If you're thinking about picking up a solid state drive to make your system scream, you'd be silly to pull the trigger before SSDs built around next generation controllers start shipping. One of the more anticipated upgrades is from SandForce, whose SF-2000 series chipsets you'll soon find on a number of shipping SSDs, including Super Talent's upcoming TeraDrive CT3. Sporting SandForce's SF-2200 controller, the upgraded TeraDrive features a SATA 6Gb/s interface and much faster read and write speeds. Super Talent hasn't disclosed exact numbers yet, but from what we know of SandForce's 2nd generation... Read more...
