ZyXEL Intros $250 NBG5715 Dual-Band Wireless Router

There's professional grade, consumer grade, and then there's ZyXEL, which seems to strike a balance between the two. The high-end networking company has just revealed their new NBG5715 dual-band wireless router, a "supercharged gateway" that doubles performance by creating two separate, concurrent networks.

This enables consumers to browse the Internet over the standard 2.4 GHz band, while high-bandwidth, low-latency activities, such as streaming Internet movies or playing lag-free games online, can be performed over the 5 GHz band. The router also uniquely features two USB ports to accommodate sharing both a printer and a storage device over the network.

The router is capable of transfer rates up to 450Mbps simultaneously on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz radio bands. This design offers power users maximum flexibility in planning a high-performance home network, and is also ideal for families with home offices that want separate business and home networks on different frequency bands.  It also includes two built-in NetUSB ports as well as SmartRange technology, which pinpoints wireless clients like laptops and tablets and transmits directly to them. Further enhanced with four Gigabit Ethernet ports, 5 VPN tunnels for home office users and a web interface, the router is certainly no slouch.

ZyXEL's new router is currently available nationwide for $250.
