Upcoming New Tony Hawk Game To Be A Mobile-Only Shred

Retired pro skater Tony Hawk hinted earlier this week that there would be a new skateboarding game based on his brand, and when pressed for information, publisher Activision confirmed to media outlets that it has "something in the works," followed by a promise to offer up more information soon. Activision wasn't ready to drop the bombshell that Hawk just did during a video interview -- the next Tony Hawk game will be exclusive to mobile.

During the video interview with Bloomberg, Hawk talked about a number of subjects, from his charity and clothing, to the fact that his next game is being aimed at smartphone and tablet gamers.

"We are working on a mobile game now, we are working on a game for mobile devices this year, and we've never really gone exclusively that direction yet, so I'm excited because, you know, with the amount of time people are spending on their phones and their tablets playing games, we've never had our own game in that space, so I'm excited to provide one finally," Hawk said.

This will undoubtedly come as a huge disappointment to fans of the series who have waited four years since the last Tony Hawk title and were hoping to shred some new terrain on their Xbox (360 and One), PlayStation (3 and 4), and Wii/Wii U consoles, but with mobile generating so much money these days, you can hardly fault Hawk and Activision for going this route.
