TRENDnet Intros 450Mbps Concurrent Dual-Band Wireless Router

Can your wireless equipment seriously handle three antennas? That's a question you'll have to ask yourself if you're thinking about picking up TRENDnet's latest. The company has just launched what they're calling the first 450Mbps concurrent dual band router at CES 2011, with the TEW-692GR capable of handling 450Mbps transfers. This is the first router to offer full 450Mbps technology on both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz wireless bands, and with the former becoming more and more crowded by the day, a lot of power users are making the switch to 5GHz so their equipment can breath a little easier.

Concurrent dual band technology sustains both 2.4GHz and 5GHz wireless networks at the same time, and MIMO antenna technology enables it to handle three spatial streams per antenna. All put together, that totals a maximum theoretical wireless throughput of 450Mbps and exceptional wireless coverage. There's also a handful of Gigabit Ethernet ports on the rear, and you'll have access to Wi-Fi Protected Setup as well. It ships with a three-year warranty and will be available in April for $249.99.

TRENDnet Demonstrates the First 450Mbps Concurrent Dual Band Router

TORRANCE, Calif. -January 4, 2011 -TRENDnet, a best-in-class wired and wireless networking hardware brand, today from CES demonstrates the first to market 450Mbps Concurrent Dual Band Wireless N Router, model TEW-692GR.

This is the first router to offer full 450Mbps technology on both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz wireless bands. Concurrent dual band technology sustains both 2.4GHz and 5GHz wireless networks at the same time. Advanced Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) antenna technology with three spatial streams per antenna, generates a maximum theoretical wireless throughput of 450Mbps and exceptional wireless coverage.

Gigabit Ethernet ports maintain high performance wired connections. Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) integrates other WPS supported wireless adapters at the touch of a button. Gone are the days of entering complicated encryption codes; simply press the WPS button on the TEW-692GR, and then press the WPS button on a compatible wireless adapter-the devices automatically exchange information and connect. WMM technology further prioritizes video and audio packets.

"A true 450Mbps concurrent router will provide networking enthusiast with another great option," stated Sonny Su, Technology Director for TRENDnet. "With the proliferation of so many wireless networked devices, performance matters more than ever before."

The 450Mbps Concurrent Dual Band Wireless N Router, model TEW-692GR, comes with a three year limited warranty and will be available from TRENDnet's online and retail partners this coming April.

The MSRP for the TEW-692GR is U.S. $ 249.99.
